The king Cole Bar is a very nice place to have a drink. Try the Bloody Mary, this is its birthplace. The snack mix is quite good as well. As easy as a voda soda is to make, here it is even better. My only complaint is the Chicken Club was not worth 30$, I think some honey mustard would bring it a long way, but i asked for some and it arrived as i was signing the bill. That being said i am still a big fan of this bar. Ask for Gavin, he is very knowledgable about the history of the bar, the drinks he is making as well as the Maxfield Parrish behind the bar. Ask him to tell you the about the hidden secret in the Mural.

I like the laid back ambiance of CW - the dimness, the red walls, the long bar, the pool table in the back room and the cool juke box. Doing a bit of research, I read that some legends performed here in its former life, Club Morocco - Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye...wish I was there. http://www.beyondchron... Food is Ethiopian pub fare if there is such a thing. Service is nice and mellow.

Waziema is great--especially on a freezing cold night like tonight. It's warm, dark and cozy, and recently has been filled to the brim with neighborhood folk. Now, Waziema has always (at least since I started going there three years ago) been warm and cozy and dark. But only in the last year or two has it been busy, and the "management," aka the owners, a nice Ethiopian couple, have not caught up with their business. Usually on weekends they have an awesome girl bartender to help out, since they don't do well with a crowd (read: slow!). But tonight, my husband and I walked in around 9:00 and grabbed the last two stools at the bar, only to sit there for a good fifteen minutes trying to catch the eye of the new male bartender, to no avail. So we left and sat in the makeout room at Chances (the Page, whatever) instead. Try Waziema. If that doesn't work, the Page is right down the street. The makeout room there is highly reccomended!
