by Alison G. on Went here last night with three friends, and the service was pretty bad. We were paying with a Groupon that offered 4 free games of bowling for 4 people, here's the conversation I had with the guy at the check-in desk. Me: Hi we were hoping to get a lane for four people. We're paying with a Groupon. Him: Ok you have an hour. I know what it says, but you get an hour. Me: Um, ok. Him: .... Me: Ok can we have shoes? Him: Sizes. We tell him sizes. He slams them onto the counter. Hey already this place is great! We asked how much an additional hour would cost, and were told $75 (it was 5:30 on Monday.) So that's fine, but for such retarded prices, you'd think maybe they'd be a little nicer? Or at least not flat-out douchey to people? He assigned us our lane, and we went downstairs to the dark, semi-depressing, much less nice, lower lanes. We got to our lane and other people were sitting there, which was confusing, since there were probably a dozen other empty lanes. I went up to the guy upstairs and had this conversation: Me: Um you told us to bowl at lane 16, but there are people there. Him: Are they bowling on it? Me: I'm not sure. Maybe. Him: That's impossible! It's off on the system. They're probably just sitting in your part of the lane. Me: Ok so... Him:... Me: Ok so what do I do? Just tell them to move? Him: Yeah just go tell them to move. Because it's totally my job to manage the patrons! And let's not forget, he's already started the countdown on our ONE HOUR of bowling, so in reality, by the time we actually got a lane, we probably got more like 45 minutes. We didn't bother ordering any food since it was kind of pricey and we only had ONE HOUR to get out of the place, and I didn't want to give this place any more of my money. And beers alone were $7. I expected it to be expensive, but not to deal with an outright asshole at those prices. If you're going to pay through the nose, you might as well go to Brooklyn Bowl and have a much better experience.
by Tala L. on So this place was super fun I went on a Friday or maybe a Saturday for a friends birthday. I had never been there and to my dismay when I walked up there was a seven dollar cover charge! I was about to not pay to get in but I did and it ended up being worth it. Cheap drinks and live music. They have a huge backyard area which is chill but I went there again another night with only one other friend and it was not much fun. It is a group kind of bar and if you do not want to pay the cover go there before 9:30 (way early) but you can spend that time getting drunk so when its later and more people come you can have fun with no stupid cover charge :D. Oh and there is a bar next door...totally forget the name...but it is fun too with a slightly smaller backyard and karaoke pretty good scene but cash only
by Damon Hadwin on I came here around 6:15 on a wednesday afternoon and it was really dead. At first i couldnt tell how to get into the place cuz the door had a curtain over it. They had some kind of beer special, and then $4 hot mulled wine. I like trying specials so i had the wine, it wasnt that great, but it was hot. Strange having something hot served in a glass instead of a mug. There are no tables inside, so it was hard for all of us to chat, so we went to the large patio outside. There were heat lamps, but a lot of people were still cold. We stayed till about 10 and in that time, a couple of people came in the main bar to play pool and also music started, i think it was hip hop radio stuff. I wouldnt try the hot wine again but i would go back on a busier day or maybe to mango because it looks like it could be a good space, esp in nice weather.
