by Scott H. on I've been on a rateclubs hiatus but I feel compelled to weigh in here. This is at least my third meal at lime in the last few years. I always knew it was trashy, previously in a good SF way, but now you've taken a turn for the worse. Yes, I was one of the groupon diners. Not sure if you didn't like me, that I was eating with a coupon, or if you are just ambivalent about your job. Fine, I can deal with that. The food: decent (not great), not expensive (even at full retail), and timely. The champagne sucked--I expected this much for the price. The best part: The mice traveling on the ledge on the wall opposite the bar. At least I saw them after my meal--and my girlfriend thought they were "cute" instead of screaming. Lime: Stop relying on your clientele to make up for your inadequacies as a restaurant. Judging by your groupon status the death rattle is upon you. Have your staff treat everyone as a valued customer, even us bargain-types--it's a recession for F's sake. Get rid of the mice. Take the food up a notch or two--and maybe you wont just be a restaurant drunk party people visit on weekends.
by Scott M. on Luckie is a great place to get lucky. Take that for what you want. I really dont know what the hell to call Luckie either. Restaurant, lounge or club. Maybe they should just call the damn place Luckie Food Restaurant Lounge Club. It would make more sense to me. The first time I went was a Wednesday night. We knew Wednesdays was a popular night, but figured we could beat the cover if we got there before 9pm. 8:45pm we arrived, only to be greeted by a well dressed doorman calmly asking for $20. "$20 dollars"? Its 8:45pm! He replied, "Unless you have a reservation its $20". I started to be a smart ass and just call the restaurant on the spot, and make a reservation, then I just said screw it...whatever. Anyways, Luckie looks like your traditional "Club, restaurant, Lounge" In fact, its pretty damn stunning. A blue light engulfs the restaurant making you feel very "loungie" if you know what i mean....we quickly sat at a relatively uncrowded bar, and began to drink...each wondering, when was anybody going to show up? After a steak and 2 cognacs, I quickly realized that the damn place was full. And not just full, but Atlanta full, meaning there was a plethora of really good looking women. Aww yes, Luckie...I finally got it... So lets talk about the food....the Ribeye---pretty damn amazing and very similar to the Hawaiian Rib eye at Houstons, but not quite as tasty, but for damn sure a close second. Pretty hard to screw up a baked potato, and Luckie did a good job of making sure they held up their end of the bargain. Scrumptious. The pork chop wasnt bad, but not very memorable either. Drinks are strong, bartenders are pretty efficient...definitely a good option for a Wednesday...heard Fridays were amazing!
