I have joined rateclubs for years and generally haven't take the time to write since my BF consistently wrote very detailed reviews enough for both of us. However, I wanted to caution serious foodie diners that this is one to skip. Don't even fall for the Groupon Champagne Dinner for Two Special @$35 for two dinners - toss it out. I can honestly say that McDonald's, Burger King, and definitely In and Out are at least 5 times better than the food here. First there was no hostess to greet the guests and I had to flag down someone and was told that the waitress will be out shortly. Second, I was stunned when the waitress announced the the Groupon special was a prix fixed menu of salad, deviled eggs, grilled cheese, mini slider burgers, and dessert. But the worst was yet to come. The Cesar salad was probably the tastiest of the whole meal although it was oddly presented on 4 large green lettuce leaves, piled with dressing and croutons on one small plate. The grilled cheese (6 corners) was oozing with greasy cheese accompanied with a tub of heavy looking sauce. Three cute mini-burger sliders were served with 4 thinly sliced pickles and NO french fries. There were 5 or 6 deviled eggs that were artfully prepared but definitely not something I would have imagined would go with a "champagne dinner." Finally, the dessert consisted of 3 mini-cupcakes, a brownie topped with ice cream, and a white chocolate lollipop. The ice cream was the best part of the dessert. I can honestly say that this was the UNHEALTHIEST meal I have ever been served in any restaurant. There was no consideration about the fat content of the meal. Perhaps, I have been dining at too many fine and higher-end restaurants. However, there are many of the restaurant in the Tenderloin serve excellent, nutritious, and healthy meals made from fresh ingredients for under $7.00 per entree. This Groupon deal was NOT a good deal and it should not have advertised as a champagne dinner although there was a bottle of Chateau Lafayette served with the dinner. I gave it one star only because I couldn't enter a half star. The idea behind Groupon is to get the diner to try out your restaurant at a discounted price and hope that the diner will return again and refer their friends and family. Instead, I had to apologize profusely to my guest for this awful meal. The waitress and server were very nice and attentive.

Dante's is where the hubby and I went to celebrate me finally getting a job after moving to Atlanta (I'm now an engineer for a concrete company). I heard about Dante's through a friend of mine and had been wanting to go for quite some time. I've had better fondue at places like The Melting Pot. But then again I also prefer to cook my meat in broth versus oil. Mostly because I'm scared that somehow my clumsy ass is going to get scalding oil all over myself. But it also leaves the meat a bit greasy. And luckily too it's kind of dark inside so you can't see the oil spatters on the walls in the booths. However, the atmosphere at Dante's is where it's at. There's so much to see. My favorite part are the peeping toms painted on the windows in the ladies bathroom and the pterodactyls painted on the walls. Because somehow pirates and pterodactyls go together. The honky jazz band is surpisingly good and I don't even like honky jazz. It just sucks that if you do want to sit on the pirate ship (which everyone does), you have to pay extra money to hear the band. And they can be a bit loud too. The floors are also a bit slippery too. I don't walk well in high heels to begin with, but it was extra difficult with the slippery floors, steps, and waiters carrying hot vats of oil.
