Wow. The only divey geezer gay bar I managed to hit in all my time in Weho. We were the youngest people in there by about 30 years. BUT, who cares? Decor was meh, but the bartender was friendly and drinks were super cheap. Sold. Just not the place to go if you wanna make any new friends.

Meh. I went last night with a friend to check this place out the day after it opened. It was apparently the owner's opening party, and guestlist-only, none of which was mentioned on the website. We got in anyway though--it's nice to be a girl sometimes! The decor inside is lovely, particularly the light fixtures with beads, chains, and feathers suiting the 1920s theme. I was unenthused about the unfinished-looking bathroom... figured that, considering the theme, there'd be something fabulous in the ladies room. Nope. The bartenders, considering that the drinks are complex and it was their second night open, were FAST. Chick who made my drinks was friendly, charming, and clearly very good at what she does. Unfortunately, the drinks were waaay too sweet. My friend's "Gypsy Ballerina" was about HALF St. Germain, which I love in small doses but that was way overdone. My rye cocktail was also overly sweet. I like to taste my liquor, people!! As we sipped our cloying beverages, we noticed that the volume of the (really good DJ's) music moved upward with each new song. It was incredibly loud, considering that no one was dancing, and people were trying to talk. I say "trying" because even yelling directly into one another's ears, we couldn't make out what the other one was saying. LOUD. I don't think I'll be back, even when the place calms down a little and it's easier to get a drink. Instead, I'll just take a shot of whiskey, pour in an equal measure of straight sugar, and set off an air horn into my ear.

We were invited to celebrate two of our friends' birthdays so we came. A helpful advice though.... if you're planning on inviting a lot of your friends, reserve a table! Our whole entire party ended up standing in that god-forsaken line for so long and it was only 10:30. The bouncers were rude, but that's something I'm accustomed to at most places. Where can you find nice bouncers nowadays? Anyway, making my way into the club. The place was okay in size, dancefloor was decent. I loved the way they set-up the tables so again, reserve a table! They had 2 bars and the bartenders were pretty attentive and it wasn't so hard to get a drink which was a major plus. The smoking patio was pretty crazy - you'd expect it to be like an outdoor patio, but it still seemed like you were inside the club except that area had really high ceilings and outside ventilation. It was pretty cool since it was freezing outside anyway. Why the 3? Two things - that stupid ass line, which was super short but then they made it seem like it was long by making us wait there forever! - and the music.... I'm not all into Top 40 music, but if you are, this would be the spot for you.
