by ERIN F. on Ok, I live in San Diego and this was my first time in NYC, so granted I was having fun wherever I went... but regardless this place is AMAZING. Gorgeous inside, huge beautiful patio, tons of different rooms with different music, tasty food, delish wine, GREAT SERVICE, hip crowd... and lots of new friends by the end of the night ;) We had the cheese plate to go with our several *ahem* bottles of wine and it was really tasty, lots of variety. Every drink I had, and there were many, tasted great. Highly recommend this place, especially if you're new to the city.
by Amy C. on Haha, I had no idea this was a gay bar till' reading other rateclubser's reviews. My friends brought me here for my birthday, because I requested something low key, dive like, and nothing close to extravagant. What can I say, I'm a simple kind of gal. Before I got there, my friends requested that the piano player sing happy birthday to me. So as I entered, he started playing and everyone started singing to me. This was the first time in the 26 years of my life that I decided to celebrate my birthday and it was awesome. I felt loved. Awww. It's funny that you guys mention this was a gay bar, because a very super nice guy bought me a birthday drink and he wasn't hitting on me at all. My boyfriend was with me by the way. Eh, I don't know... I had fun.
by Tegan Dwornik on I've never had Ethiopian food before, so I think I should probably give it another try, but I have to say, I didn't love it. I'm sure if you really like Ethiopian food, you would love Waziema, but I just can't say I did. Got the veggie platter for two and ate it all (well, had a lot of help). I did like the atmosphere of Waziema - the wallpaper is pretty amazing - I think it's velvet actually. Pete J. wants to have a room in his house someday with the exact same wallpaper covering his walls - could be interesting... Anyhoo, I'll have to eat at another Ethiopian restaurant and compare the two, then come back and rate again...until then, 3 stars.
