*I carelessly let my recently purchased, full bottle of Corona slip through my fingers and it shatters on the floor* CODE GLASS CODE GLASS. Within seconds three men in black with ear pieces surround me and usher me to the side. A large man arrives with a dust pan and it is cleaned up within seconds. I am staring from the side, my mouth wide open, as if I had just witnessed the FBI clean up a crime scene leaving nothing but my memory of what had occurred. To this day, I still don't even know if it ever really happened. Saint rocks. There isn't a better way to put it. The DJ plays some of the best music I've heard in a while- reaching back into those classic late 90s dance songs featured in some timeless movie classics (e.g. Save the Last Dance and anything with Freddie Prinze Jr.) Yes, I admit, the "dance floor" consisted of narrow isles between large couches and stools- but it didn't stop us from making our own dance party. One huge plus to this night, was that we were able to get on the guest list, pay no cover and get in without waiting, all from mentioning the managers name (which then gets stamped on our hands) and my friend's birthday. So call ahead if you are going with a large group!

Bottom line: the basic burger at Flip is amazing. Bar none the best burger I've had. Very well seasoned, beautifully cooked. I had the Breakfast Burger, which was tasty -- the maple syrup foam is a nice touch. From there, I was a bit disappointed. The much-discussed Krispy Kreme shake was too literal and featured a liquid nitrogen-frozen donut chunk that tasted stale. (This may be an effect of the N2, but it wasn't pleasant.) The french fries were crispy but fairly forgettable. It may be unfair, but it's also hard not to compare Flip to Good Stuff Eatery in DC, opened by Richard's Top Chef competitor Spike about six months ago. Good Stuff Eatery has bolder flavors and a far more interesting concept. Coming six months later, Flip feels like the second time around the block. Everything here was competently executed and the burger really is amazing, so I'm hopeful Flip will turn out to be a fantastic restaurant. But it's not really there right now. Hard to say that it really lives up to the hype and is worth the wait.

Not so big on hip hop to start off and def. not so big on ugly and old male strippers on "ladies night." I actually saw someone I went to high school with in Sonoma County so I spent some of the night hiding from her. Really not a fun club in not the best area of town. Long and tedious line-they check your I.D. like twice and then someone pats you down and then you go up stars and they look at the 2 stamps you got to figure out how much you owe. Way too much work for a boring club. The women-WOW! I have never seen so many hoes in one place! Hoochi (however you spell that) mamas that buy their "dresses" at Forever 21! Yuck. The club is 90% Asia, 9% Black, and 1% Everyone else so and no hot men in the entire club :( It didn't get very hot, which was nice, and they carried my friends favorite vodka X-Rated (which, btw is really really good) so that made her happy. Will never go there again. Would rather go to The Cellar where there are tons of hot guys, good music, and no homeless!
