by G M. on So pretentious! ugh. We arrived at 9:30 just in time to be charged the 5$ cover. There was not a soul in line, nor waiting to pay but the bouncer made us stand in line behind the velvet rope for 5 minutes. He wouldn't even look at us or mention why the heck we had to wait in line to enter a bar that was less than half full. I wonder, was it my jeans and a hoodie? probably, this bar is so LA; including the overpriced drinks. Could be fun with the right crowd and if you are wearing the right clothes. And whats the deal with the guy directing traffic in the bathroom?
by Carol L. on Six of us went to Dine About Town here, and boy, were we pleasantly surprised! My coworkers and I had the time of our lives at this very unique, very San Francisco trendy/posh location. This place is just awesome, purely for the unique atmosphere. From the glittery nipples guy, to the opera singer, to the comfy pillows, to the masseuse, to eating dessert out of dog bowls -- Supperclub presented us with one pleasant surprise after another! The Dine About Town menu changes each week, but they will not tell you what it is. "It's a surprise!" was the answer we were given over and over. They will adapt to any dietary needs you may have though! The week we went, they gave us a salad, kobe beef (vegetarian option was a curry), and walnut brownie a la mode in a dog bowl. The food here was good, but nothing spectacular. Drinks are also expensive, but not that great. 3 stars for the food, but 4 stars for the fantastic experience our group had! (Pictures uploaded)
by Catrina Turchi on It was good, but overall I was disappointed. Nothing popped. The atmosphere is cool, but the place was empty on a Saturday pre-theatre. Update: 1/11/08: they changed chefs. I went for lunch this time, and nothing really popped off the lunch menu either - it was mostly just sandwiches. Bizarro. But pretty good.
