by Marilyn T. on The restaurant has a very cool all-white exterior, but it's a bit hard to find the door. Inside, there's a very warm feel. We went back in December when they first opened, and things were already running very smoothly service-wise, except for the valet service. The valet situation was a bit of a mess, as cars were stuck in the lot at the end of the night, and it was backed up beyond belief. We waited about 10 minutes for our car, and we saw another party get invited back inside for drinks, since their car was kind of locked in. It was my boyfriend's birthday, and they added a nice personal touch by sending a birthday card to the table and giving us an edible candle in our dessert. We did the 8 course tasting, which included 2 dessert courses (i would have preferred only one dessert). The rest of the courses were each very different from the next, with the roasted jidori chicken being very memorable. Extensive wine list. I think it's pretty reasonably priced for the experience and is better than Michael Mina's other restaurant in the bay area.
by Logan Dooling on Slightly overpriced and overhyped... still a decent burger. Reliable and tasty... just not exceptional. The fries are decent too, but nothing I'd rave about. It's a pretty cool place, but it's very busy and popular, so it's often difficult to find a good seat. I also don't much care for the way it's set up - you might have to rub elbows with a stranger - it's far from intimate dining... no matter where you sit, your conversation is open game for everyone nearby. I'll eat here once in awhile, but I'm not their biggest fan and they haven't really won me over ever with their service. I don't know why it's so popular really... maybe it's cuz the menus are fancy looking.
