by Katie G. on Aw man, what a great night! We saw Nada Surf with Telekinesis, and it was just so much fun from the moment we entered the building. The bouncer(s) and ticket guy were just so no-drama and normal. And the place itself is so cool, has an old timey vibe without being musty or haunted-feeling. We got the dinner tickets, and they are _so_ worth it - amazing seats (I could see the guitarist's scalp sunburn from where I was sitting), great food that's not bar or diner-like ... it's healthy! or the vegan option I got was - I think it was a portabell(a?) mushroom cap with tomato sauce, fingerling potatoes, and green beans + little tomatoes, also a salad; anyhow, super-good and wasn't heavy, so I didn't feel too food-burdened to enjoy the show. They also have banana splits on the menu, that you get in an enormous bowl. Lotsa whipped cream. My seat neighbor enjoyed one mightily. Service was excellent, and the overall vibe was just great. I kind of think that this is such a great place because all the staff get to eat really well beforehand, so their blood sugar is normal and they're feeling good and taken care of. I love that! Also, the ladies room was very clean and well-stocked. And Nada Surf was freaking great. I love them!
by David M. on ~2 hour long line to get in after 9pm, expensive cover (guest list $10; $20 full price), poor floor plan, expensive drinks, and not enough bartenders. I suppose the huge (and unused) VIP section in the front room is meant to keep the bar area very cramped- so that "next time" we are duped into reserving a table, which I'll bet carries a 2 bottle minimum and will cost $800-1000. I don't even want to venture a guess...
