111 Minna doubles up as a nice gallery space in downtown SF and than turns into a club/bar/lounge at night. I've been to a couple of events at 111 and have always had a good time. I went as far as having my last birthday party there and it was a fun 80s dance party. My only issue with the place, they don't take credit/debit cards which is always a downer when you want a drink quick!

I just got home from eating lunch here and I want to throw up. I normally have a stomache of steel, but now I find myself wanting to put my finger down my throat. I give it 2 stars because the guacamole was excellent (ask for it to be made without cilantro if you don't like cilantro) and the staff was very patient and very informative. But the dish I got had a fancy name with not much substance. I found it way too greasy and my friend found the chicken too "gamey". It didn't seem like authentic Mexican food (although the waiters had to point out they were all Mexican.) The entire restaurant seems to act like a fancy place - it's very decorative - but if you look beneath the surface, aka, the cheese, there's not much else. Maybe it's because I hadn't eaten all day and I scarfed down all that grease and margaritas. I would go back to this place for their drinks. The margarita selection made me very happy. And like I said, the service was excellent. And the waiter did comp my friend's meal because she couldn't even get past a couple bites before crunching on gristle. I was so hungry I ate all I could. Then again maybe that's why I don't feel so well.

The night I walked in this club's door I knew it was going to be 18+ and didn't really know how I felt about it. Asked to attend the club for a going away party, I put aside my skepticism of spending excess amounts of time with 18+ teenagers I assumed would think they were the "shit" because they were out at a club. But I was right on the money. Watching young girls dance around in their perfectly planned outfits took me back to a time in high school I vowed never to go again. The one saving grace was the bartender who gave me free shots because he felt pity for me and my friends having to be there watching it all go down. So we proceeded to make the best of the situation by acting like asses and mocking everyone and everything in sight - including the DJ whose mixing skills and music choices would surely only be surpassed by a monkey. All in all, not one of my finer evenings in SF and not a place I would recommend to anyone.
