by Kelley B. on Something about spending a chill night at the movies then strolling over to the Culver Hotel to sip brilliant martini's or a nice aged scotch with your favorite person makes you sink back into the comfy couches and hold onto the near perfection of the night just that much longer. The ambiance, dark, transformative and always an exceptional night cap. I like that the Culver is one of those places that you will see someone dressed in cocktail attire, but feel just as easy and luxurious in jeans and a tank. Any of the appetizers have the high fat content and complementary sauces to make you swoon and are not for the faint heart. Their cheese plate is beautiful and works through the best selections and accompaniments. Happy hour cocktails until 8pm are half price, but go a little later for the end to a great date and have more of the place and a couch in the corner to yourselves.
by Lissette Barrentine on ah the attitude! so cool, so dark, mystery abounds! but the food is bland - the menu a snore - and the buzz could be yellow jackets teeming outside. Once was a decent place to eat, with modest pretension - now just tension, reheating, poor service - and pricey! Yes the cash will flow out, and your tum will fill - but is it worth it? Nah
by Michael M. on Allyoucaneatveggiecombo... ho-yeah! This place sports quite a blend of old-school club atmo (complete with red velvet wallpaper) punctuated with giant plates of Ethiopian food all over the place. As Massawa has been in decline in recent years, Wazeima has taken over as my fave outlet for east African fare. I'll admit the allyoucaneat part influences that opinion. But the food itself is perfectly good on its own merits and the owners can be really sweet if you take a moment to chat them up a bit (that is when they're not in Ethiopia shuttling back spices and specialty ingredients from their family's village.) The jukebox can be a bit loud so don't sit next to it. I'd give it a 5-star rating if there were a little more variability in the menu (specials?) and if the tables were a bit bigger.
