Rude staff. I called this afternoon to ask some general questions about the venue to make a reservation for my friends birthday. The girl on the phone who claimed to be the owner was incredibly rude, demeaning, and unprofessional. I asked her simple questions like how much a bottle costs and if there are refills if we reserve a table and she gave me short, quick responses inbetween talking to other customers and workers, all with a very snappy short circuit attitude. I will never step into a club or lounge who has management/ownership under such rude and unprofessional staff.

If you like being man-handled by aggressive bouncers who have a fetish for wrapping their roid raging hands around your neck, GO FOR IT.........I'm a 110 lbs and was dancing on a speaker, was told to get down and I did.  Apparently, I wasn't moving fast enough so the bouncer felt it was necessary to put his hands around my neck and pick me up off of my feet.  I have never been treated like this in all my life!  Under no circumstances would I ever step foot in this place and I'm telling everyone about the experience.    You might want to have APD on your speed dial should you decide to visit the Opera.

This venue sounds amazing.  We saw Jens Lekman there this past friday, and even though Jens had the most unbelievable voice (I still love you too, Morrissey!!), I know that the sound of that place was incredible.  The venue is located in happenin' North Beach, with lots of cool "Euro-like" cafes and restaurants.  The venue itself is so old-school and nostalgic.  I believe Bimbo's opened in the 1930's, and it's nice to know that it is still a great place to see a show.  The dining area with a fireplace is a cool little spot to have a drink or two before the show.  The only off the wall thing that happened was when I had to go to the restroom, and the bathroom attendant woman told all of us girls to "not pee on the seats or the floor!"  hmm....weird.  Maybe she was used to working the Men's room.  The room where the show takes place is huge with a dance floor, and the rest of the room are tables where everyone can enjoy the show sitting down.  I would love to see another band here, but I don't know what can top Jens Lekman.  That was one of the best shows I have seen in my life.  This boy from Sweden loves San Francisco so much that he played 3 encores, talked about how he wants to move there someday, and even came out to the dance floor to meet his fans afterwards.  I didn't know what to say to him because I am shy, but I was almost tipsy enough to give him a hug.  Almost tipsy enough....Colin and I were close enough and then chickened out.  Tee hee....
