I tried Zahav for the first time with my bf during restaurant week and so glad I did! I am a big fan of middle eastern / mediterranean cuisine and this is as good as it gets! First of all, I must say I was impressed with the service. All the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Water was always filled and plates and utensils were changed after each course. The starters included Hummus-Tehina with fresh baked laffa bread and Salatim (8 salads). The hummus was creamy, smooth and so good with the light and fluffy laffa. All of the 8 salads in the Salatim were so yummy and flavorful: tabouli (parsley salad), cucumber & tomato salad, spaghetti squash, fennel salad, spiced carrots, spicy okra, pickled cauliflower, and twice cooked eggplant. Based on the reviews here I had to try the Crispy Haloumi and Fried Cauliflower. The crispy and salty of the cheese paired so well with the sweetness of the date jam. I also really enjoyed the chive, dill, mint and garlic sauce that went with the cauliflower. Next was the Balkan Pastel, which had tender shredded lamb inside a warm flaky pastry crust, and Chraime, tender moroccan fish stew in a tangy broth of tomatoes and peppers. For the main courses, we had The Romanian (tender chunks of steak with eggplant and yummy red sauce) and The Jaffa (Branzino fish served with crispy salted skin and bulgur pilaf). By the time these came, we were already on the verge of full, despite the small size of the dishes. Our two desserts were amazing too! The Labaneh Panna Cotta was soft, sweet and creamy served with a tart passionfruit sherbet and a mildly sweet pistachio baklava. The Chocolate Semifreddo was like a combination of chocolate mousse and ice cream together. Everything was so delicious and we walked away quite full, along with our bonus baggies of cookies, zatar seasoning and coupons! Definitely will be coming back to try more dishes!

Listen... lots of bro's, chasing tail... which you mildly have to respect. The 10:1 girl ratio.... huge bs. This was a sausage fest at it's best. There's no womens bathroom for a reason. Some weak drinks, some hot girls, but if you just want to chill and not dance or hear an actual conersation, go somewhere else.

So waiiiitttt a gosh darn second.. people.. go here.. on purpose? Wow. I've ended up at Hong Kong after 2am for the most part. It's usually the 3rd or 4th stop of the night. The food is quick.. doesn't leave your stomach sending emergency signals to any part of your body.. and the people are always interesting. These guys run a tight ship. A friend of mine tried to swindle an egg roll out of the cashier using her charming and sexy Asian ways. He would.. not... budge. Dang. I've always run into the guys who have gold chains as big as the velvet ropes in museums.. the kids with the munchies.. the students who think it's way cool to be out late and don't know what to do because there's no proper diner in the area (even IHOP is closed.. lame).. and the chicks/dudes that missed out on taking someone home after last call. Then there's me.. and my friends.. that realize after last call (at some other bar) that we haven't eaten since dinner at 6pm and we don't have any food at home. Oh Hong Kong. So reliable. Note: Don't go all foofoo and get complicated with your order. Trust me. Stick to the "staples". Oh.. and don't sit down.. take your food and run. Well.. you don't have to run.
