DISCLAIMER: This review is based solely on playing pool/having drinks there. I haven't gone to the bar or sat down and ate. Being the only place with a decent number of pool tables near work, we are kind of forced to go here for our weekly pool nights. The first few times were good, the waitress would come by and get us stuff. Recently, though, service has been horrible. Every time we've had to go up to the waitress/waiter and ask for service. Forget about it if there is a private party going on also. More so, the drinks are meh. The appetizers are good, but small (chips and queso, sliders, calamari). Another thing I don't like is they always have the music choice of a 15 year old girl playing. Not bad if there are a good number of people talking, but seriously, its a pool hall. The good thing is, it's a chill place and have never had a problem with any of the other people playing. Everyone is courteous and doesn't get in the way. Be prepared to spend money if you stay for a while and play some games, drink, and eat like my friends and I do though.

First let me say that my only experience on the Frying Pan was a disaster of a drunk night. I headed here after a work party, not having a clue where I was or why Brooklyn looked so dark. I was then told that we were on the Hudson, and I was looking at Jersey. ANYHOO - I remember over priced beers, a rather young crowd (and by young, I mean that I felt old) and slippery floors. I took a couple of nice spills between decks. I'd go back though. I'm curious to see it sober.

This place has the best calamari and the best maduros (sweet plantains) I've had anywhere. The atmosphere is nice and chill, and it turns into a great hangout at night. The tapas portions are really good for the price, which doesn't happen very often... UPDATE: Ok, so the new location doesn't have the amazing calamari anymore :(. The calamari is still pretty good, but not as yummy as before. Some of the other large portion tapas have been taken off the menu (pastas, etc.) The flan is extremely yummy though.
