I so wanted to love you. And I really tried. You're beautiful. You have a great reputation. Everyone loves you. It just isn't going to work out. It's not you, it's your bouncers. I saw a show here last week and there was nowhere I could go to escape the obnoxious drone of the over-the-hill but obviously working hard to preserve themselves trio in the corner. He has a Mercedes in case anyone hadn't heard. I went to the bar to "buy a drink" ( actually bitch to the bartender without being too obvious) and I watched the bartender call the security guy over and easily point out the group obviously ignoring the show and admiring each other. Security went over and asked them to quiet down. They smiled, did an over-exaggerated Shhhh noise and went about their night. Despite numerous glares from the rest of the audience - security never approached them again. When I ( insanely politely) asked them if they would mind finishing their conversation after my all time favorite song... they instead spent the whole song shouting obscenities at me. Security? I know you can hear them! Don't just look away. And this is why we can never be together Great American Music Hall. I just don't have that safe protected feeling with you. Let me know when you are ready to ditch that security guy and maybe we can try again.

Definitely gets the honor for sexiest steakhouse in my book. The place just reeks of pretention though, the bankers, the wanna be actresses and the sugar poppas who love them. All the distractions aside, the place is really sleek looking and a chic vibe to it. A nice place for getting dressed up and meeting up with friends for a Friday night out. When you come to STK, you're definitely paying for the vibe and name. We were a party of 4 and was seated in a booth. While the food is good, it's clearly not the star here. Though I remember some of the sides being pretty yummy, particularly the truffle fries and creamy potatoes. One of the perks is that when you get out you're on the block of many other hip restaurants/lounges. How great for people watching!

Welcome to the neighborhood! Yoshi's has leaped across the bay to bring live jazz to a spanking new venue and it hits the marks in every way: ambiance: cool food: excellent, if pricey pours: right on - could be a bit more generous given the prices acoustics: excellent I caught Chick Corea -- was thrilled to be so close to this jazz legend, and really glad that Yoshi's SF offers the same intimacy and club-like feeling as its Jack London Square sister. Very cool. As soon as I save up a few more shekels, I plan to revisit and will write more, but I have to say, I think they really nailed it. I hope they'll draw the crowds they deserve. For me the location couldn't be better. I can walk there in about 10 minutes. Beats fighting Bay Bridge traffic and snaking my way through Oakland! Even though they're making big strides in raising the safety meter on this stretch of Fillmore, I'd still recommend that fellow Rateclubers bring a friend or walk with others if you're arriving by foot or Muni. I noticed a few uncool mogs on the corner and would not want to hear about someone's great evening being ruined. Especially after the show, be aware.
