Extremely nice bar in one of the nicest hotels in the city. Friendly bartenders and great drinks. This bar is supposed to be the birthplace of the Bloody Mary. My wife and I had 2 Bloody Mary's and a Cosmo and our bill was $60. Expensive by any standard. I'm glad I went, but I wouldn't go back. If you do go, be sure to get a free snack tray with pretzels, nuts, and wasabi peas. At least you'll have some tasty snacks while drinking your $20 drink. Service-4 stars, Bar ambiance-5 stars, Value-1 star.

This place a definitely a place to visit if you want to take someone out for their first time in LA. I was surprised that I never even heard of the place until one of my friends took me there. I ended up loving the place and coming back with more friends that haven't been here before. This place has an awesome vibe and it's a nice place to just chill and have a drink with your friends. You definitely don't have to worry about the horrible music they play at the clubs, because this place plays the right kind of music. The decor also plays a big part of the theme they are trying to achieve here. Like many have said, it is based off an old power plant (Edison) and has a 1920's feel. The first time I came here, I almost felt under dressed. A lot of the older men were in suits and everything. So don't plan on coming here with jeans. I recommend a cute dress for the girls and guys should wear slacks with a blazer or just a nice button down shirt and obviously dress shoes. They have 2 full bars that have a few bartenders that are knowledgeable about their drinks. There was a bartender that I asked for recommendations and he didn't really know what to say. He looked as if he didn't really care, so I just ordered my usual. Other thing is they don't carry Patron. So if you ask for a shot of Patron, well be ready for the "we don't carry that" line. I wondered for a second why they wouldn't carry it but whatever. The prices for drinks are a little pricey but they are pretty strong so it's not much of a problem. Parking was not biggie since they have a parking structure right behind the place which cost only $8 dollars. They also have valet too. The first time I went to The Edison, I got there at about 10pm on a Saturday and there was no line whatsoever. We walked in and the best part was they don't ask for a cover charge! But recently, I came on a Friday night and got there at about 11pm and they had a line. No big deal because we only waited about 15 minutes to get in. The line moved pretty quickly. One recommendation though, call ahead an reserve. You have to spend a minimum of $25 a person to reserve but it is well worth it because when it gets packed and your wearing heels, you get tired and you want to sit down. Plus $25 dollars a person is only about 2 drinks per person. DO IT! Other than that, I had a good time and will come back again soon.

I had a really good lunch here the other day as did my wife and a friend. The food was all very flavorful, if a little on the sweet side. The real winner is a sandwich made with a falling-apart tender pot roast. Still, all of our entrees and sided were well executed. The service was friendly a quick and the ambiance was one of a subdued hipness. It's a little on the pricey side, but not really when compared with similar downtown lunch spots.
