Even though it was memorial weekend, you would think there would be lots of club goers...but unfortunately sad to say, it was still quite empty. The club I do admit has much potential with the vibe and class and standard. However, the location being in West Hollywood is probably not the best location. But I didn't mind since it made the parking much easier. :) The DJ was alright but what was up with all the hip hop and then scratching...there was no continuous play from one song to the next. Apparently the DJ didn't care who was there since he was so busy "trying" to scratch. I took one star off because the DJ didn't help, and the prices for 3 shots was $37? Needless to say wasn't even top shelf liquor (purchased in the 2nd room that was very zen like...hardwood floor and the dj was actually better I thought). The main floor had much nicer bartenders...and very friendly. Although I couldn't really hear what they were saying, at least the prices were better. :) Definitely lots of potential but one suggestion would be to spin better music that's continuous. The crowd was actually alright.

Walking up to my first time at Bootie, I was decidedly hesitant. On Saturday nights, the neighborhood and all the other clubs in the area are not my cup of admittedly-hipster (organic, fair trade, shade grown, seasonal) tea. But so many of my friends were inside, so I ignored the bridge-and-tunnelers on line in front and behind me, paid my cover, and plunged in. Two and a half hours later I was sweaty, my ears were ringing, my feet hurt, I was tired, hungry, happy and danced-out, and I couldn't wait to return for another of Bootie's mashup dance party. P.S. - It's much better after midnight when all the tunnelers that need to catch the last BART to the East Bay run away. P.P.S. - I did not indulge, but they have an absinthe bar. Promising...
