I may be biased because I have a thing for drag queens and dinner shows, but my date and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at supperclub as it broke the monotony of a traditional date night. Very unique experience overall and the food was a notch above typical mixed dining & entertainment venues. I wrote a very detailed, looong blog post about my experience at supperclub last Saturday night so be prepared (i.e. SPOILER ALERT). I'll post a section of it here and feel free to read the rest on my blog: http://www.datenightsf... " Upon entering the venue, we were immediately ushered into a line with the other guests awaiting the single seating check-in window of 7-7:30 p.m. The theme of the night quickly became apparent when a man wearing a revealing hospital gown, tighty-whiteys, and a nurse's face mask yelled at us, twitching in a psychotic state while clinging to his blood-filled IV. One of the staff members, a beautiful African American girl in knee high tights and a sexy business suit, yelled that she didn't have a problem while snorting a line of white powder and gulping from a Vodka bottle. The maître d', the skinniest drag queen I have ever seen wearing an itsy bitty nurse's outfit, checked us in and placed a sticker on my date's chest while feeling up his pecs. Our waiter escorted us to these dazzling white beds on the second floor and asked us to remove our shoes prior to lounging. 1) Sight: Welcome to Rehab. The all-white décor and pink hues pouring from the dimmed lights created a dream-like ambiance for the dinner guests while the movie projected on the second floor's balcony played bizarre images of the staff members experiencing mental breakdowns. Suddenly, the creepy man in a hospital gown stood in front of the projection and began violently twerking to the music, pulling at his hair and clothes until he fully disrobed. The movie contained two images of himself, simultaneously tweaking and grasping at the air. One of the images struck his face and he spat out blood, which poured down his bare chest. "Please give a round of applause to our DJ of the night, Mysterious!" shouted the tranny nurse. Read more at http://www.datenightsf...

I went to KoKo's on a Sunday night on Memorial Day weekend. The crowd was cool 20-30 somethings.  The place got packed by midnight. Apparently, this place used to be a real dive bar.  It's actually pretty cute inside.  It has style, albeit simple. Ladies:  the bathroom is big, clean and has plenty of TP.  Imagine that! The music was cool although it got louder and louder.  By midnight, we couldn't hear each other talk.  I left with a sore throat. The bartenders (who might have been the owners) were super cool and friendly! I would definitely go back.

I liked it. Went a couple of times. Good gender balance - not a sausage fest. Lots of international folks and upscale patrons. Crowded but not disgustingly packed and beautiful women inside. Pretty sparse decor, just black and photos of Gisele all over the place. Restrooms needed improvement. If anything, good for people-watching, like much of South Beach. Nobody spilled drinks on me and there were no sweaty bodies rubbing up against me and grossing me out. I remember having fun, but not much else... I do remember that it was THE spot to be whenever I was there and people were DYING to get in (this was a while ago). And nothing happened to piss me off, which is pretty rare. Like many "exclusive" hot spots, Mynt was all hype and little substance - it's all about the clientele and how hard it is to get in. If you're a single guy on a Friday or Saturday night, don't count on getting in without some hot chicks with you and a $50 bribe for the bouncer. I personally wish they'd work on the decor. It really wouldn't take much to spruce up the place...
