Being from other places ...perhaps like a few other places on this planet ... I have to say I've seen my share of La Cage Aux Folles' and totally love drag shows of all kinds. Last night we went to the SF institution called Asia SF, not to be confused with an Institution in SF, because it's slightly different ! We were seated early at 6:30 and ordered a couple of cocktails and perused the menu, the glasses of wine were in the $7-10 range and the food was not as pricey as I thought it would be . My dinner ...I ordered an appetizer called the Porcupine, which was a lightly battered eggroll with shrimp and other delicious delectables. My entree was the Filet Mignon Slices, it was a smaller portion but very nicely done .Food 3.5 stars Date ordered the Seared Tuna Appetizer, which he liked but didn't love. His entree was the Salmon which again he liked but wasn't in love with. Food 2.5 stars Hence his great love for my delectables ! The show went on at 7:30 while they occasionally danced till 9pm. We saw a total of 6 dances. About three to five minutes each. However they don't carry a mike and some don't even try to act like they're singing at all ? Basically it's all about watching them bounce around to the music and enjoying the eye candy. I've seen so much better than this. A bit dissappointed. Entertainment 2.5 stars And Date was in 'Perfect Legs' and 'Tiny Waist' coma... ! "Hon, They're not real women" I said, " Oh, yea right, right " he said Actually there was a small spot of entertainment happening around the bar with a really hot latin young man doing what is called the Blowjob Shot. Ladies from Birthdays and Bachelorette Parties were getting them all around the bar ... I thought how strange, what are those girls doing to those guys ? And that's when my friend signed me up for it ...! There is nothing funnier than me trying not to blush bright red at the sight of a really gorgous young hot latin guy sitting on the bar wearing a gorgous shirt and elegantly cut trousers with a shot between his wide open legs ... And very comfortably giving me the come hither look,,,,OMG ! I was laughing so hard he asked if I was OK .... ?! I was freaking out, I couldn't do it ! It wasn't going to happen.... Everyone was screaming and clapping and laughing, One of the 'Ladies' came and bent me over and started spanking me ! Everyone was going completely nuts . The bartenders came over with their manuals and began reciting the steps like in Kindergarden ... No hands, eyes open, hold her hair ! All I remember is putting the shot in my mouth and everything was in slow motion after that. I was standing there with it in my mouth when he finally said, " Just flip your head back and swallow " ... ! He had a very sweet smile on his face and actually he was laughing too . And The Place Went Crazy

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP = BETTER!!!!! This great little watering hole is like the talented and attractive child of a hot hollywood threesome that happened 7 years ago. The trio of owners helped make the Tunnel Top THE watering hole for knob hill, and now they've brought the same cocktail wizardry and laid back attitude to Polk Street. This is a tremendous little bar - you can see and feel the new owner's touches in all the nooks and crannies. They have upgraded the ceiling, upgraded the walls, the floor, the bar, and especially the booze. And for the former KoKo LoKos they left sufficient homage to make it familiar; look for the gold ceilings and wallpaper! To sum it all up - the new KoKo is an imperial pint of progress for Polk St. Great cocktails, cool bartenders, and a chill environment that makes this a place worth rediscovering.

I love buildings with character. You don't see too many places with details anymore. Gone are the days of crown molding, scultpured columns, sconces, ornate chandeliers... now is the time for sleek glass tops, chrome, stainless steel, and aerodynamics. How sterile. Bimbo's displays true history and a real personality to North Beach. This venue gives an experience at first step. I suddenly realized James Morrison was not the only headliner at the show. You look up to see gorgeous dark lumbers marbelizing the ceiling. Classic red velvet curtains draping the side walls. Massive mirrors reflecting ambient light from the large sconce fixtures. We got a great table in the back of the main showroom, which was perfect! Still on the ground level, but able to see over the crowd's waving hands and cell phone cameras. And I never once got a dirty, grimey dive joint feel. They keep the facilities groomed and clean. I even enjoyed my bathroom experience! The bathrooms are retro, and still with reliable plumbing! The bathroom hostess was also another great character. I see so many of them ashamed or bored, but like the waitress, ticket attendant and ushers, this one gave service with a smile. There isn't a bad view of the performances and if there is, there is ample space to get a better angle. It's intimate yet unstuffy. Sound system did not blow our ear drums out. Drinks are readibly available through the waitstaff or from the gorgeous bar in the next room. The only thing I would complain about Bimbo's was their food. Organic 3-cheese pizza? Tasted a lot like Ms. Beazly's cafeteria cardboard greasy pizza.
