by Rolanda Purdie on Many of the reviewers said they had a difficult time getting into My Studio and had troubles with the bouncers/promoters and waiting in line. Reading these reviews gets me a bit worried, but my friends and I decided to check it out anyways. We went on a Thursday, and went right in without hassle. Perhaps because it was a Thursday, and there weren't too many people inside? Well, let's just say it was definitely a Hollywood crowd. I could definitely tell it was a bunch of people who are regulars on the social scene. Definitely saw a few models at a table but they looked like they were 14...maybe 16 at most. I absolutely loved the decor inside My Studio -- it was very cozy and comfy, but very classy and elegant at the same time. In my opinion, decor is a huge part of the experience because it creates the ambiance and mood for the venue. My Studio has great decor - quite a nice Hollywood club.
by My Mandy on Busby's is one of the most random, multi-faceted bars I've ever been to. Beer, cocktails, games, lounge area, and dance floor, all in one. The music is your typical top 40 lineup and the drinks are nothing particularly special. The music is unnecessarily loud, making conversation at the bar near impossible. The bartenders here can get cranky as the crowd rolls in, so watch what you say, and practice your patience. The dance floor is sweaty, but not too crowded. Just watch out for broken beer bottles every once in a while. The setup is nice though. Blue Moon on tap was a plus. No hat rule was a minus, considering how the crowd there was not what I'd call "classy." I'd worry more about the vomiter in the bathroom more than my hat. The rules in general are ridiculously strict and pretentious, and overall, was a bit a buzz kill. "Don't stand in this open area," "You can't take pictures in this area," "Take off that hat," "etc." It was all a bit too much. It's gonna be a while before I get busy at Busby's again. by melissa m. on This place ABSOLUTELY SUCKED! My friends and I were visiting NYC from SF for a weekend of partying and our hotel concierge from the Roosevelt Hotel suggested to go to this place. He said it was "poppin" and that it was Madonna's favorite place to hang in the city. NOT! Which dimension was he living in where Madonna would enjoy such DJs that didn't know how to spin music let alone be non sufficient of any listen worthy records?! WTF? He said if we told the person in the front line that we knew him and we came from the Roosevelt that we would get hooked up. First of all, we should have known from when they asked for our IDs and gave us a drinking band that we should NOT have entered that gawd awful place! Secondly, the pass that we were given was a coupon pass of $10 bucks off. The original price was $30! The place turned out to be a 19 and over tourist club and the drinks were overly priced and served in rinky dink plastic cups. A total trap for the visitor who wants to experience the best parts of NYC not the worst! Don't go here. It's a TOTAL WASTE of time and money!!!
