I'm not sure whether to be more disappointed in the dinner I just had or the amount of rateclubsing Austinites that find this place to be good. Disclaimer: I grew up in a household where 6/7 of my family are Italian citizens. I also lived in Italy for nearly 2 years. So take from that what you will while I review the food. Food: The portions here are giant. We started with the fried zucchini, there were 7 slices, all of which were slightly cold, but it could easily have been a good appetizer for 4 people. My wine, their house red (something Amico), came out in a glass with tons of specks of food or something in it (I sent it back and the next glass was impeccably clean). It was a good drinking wine for the meal. Next I had a side Caesar salad, the highlight of my meal - not too big, nicely dressed, and with crispy croutons. My wife and I only each finished 1/2 of our meals (gnocchi w/ vodka sauce, and the baked ziti) because they were so big - and then at the end of the meal, we found out that if you order the pastas ($12.95), you can pick out a second one to take home... so we came home with 4 to-go boxes full of food. Amazing for $46. Though the portion sizes were great, the food itself was not a whole lot better (IMO) than Olive Garden, which I consider to be meh. Service: Our waiter, Colt, I think, was nice. He checked up on us when needed, and my water glass never went completely empty. Keep up the good work! The hostess needs to do a better job at being at her stand. I called on the way there to check exactly where they were located (as the Domain is huge), and after 11 rings hung up. When we got there (yay Domain Maps), there was no one at the hostess stand for about 2 minutes - not sure where she was off to, but when she did come out, I felt like I had annoyed her by standing there waiting to be seated. Result: I won't be coming back here again because of the meh-ness of the food - but that's just the opinion of someone who has Italian family and lived in Italy for nearly 2 years - maybe I'm just spoiled.

This place is bad ass! Great decor, both upstairs and down, amazing food and great times! I saw an awesome group called Kandy Kayne and had a rediculously fun time! Staff are very nice here, although sometimes overwhelmed with patrons... Will be coming back to see the SRV tribute band!

We came to Jillian's as a reunion w/ some old co-workers. The company was great, the server was OK, the food (we had some chicken wing and calamari appetizers) and drinks were decent, but the ambiance was not so great -- granted there was a networking event going on in the big room by the bar. Note to the lady with the microphone yelling, "testing. testing. Can you hear me?" over and over: YES, we hear you. Stop already. That's when we decided that we'd enough of Jillian's and moved our party somewhere else.
