If the weather is nice, this is a great place to come with friends to grab beers and enjoy the view. A historic boat kept in tact and turned into a bar--what could be better? While the crowd this place draws is questionable, it's worth a trip all the way to Riverside Park to sit down and watch the boats go by on the Hudson.

Wow, I've been hearing about supperclub from friends over the years, seen it in magazines, on the Travel Channel. My friend gave me the idea to go there during Dine About Town so ok, I'm there! I made a reservation through Open Table, and voila, Susan V. and I were in. Doors don't open until 7PM - when I got there, I yanked at the doors, but they were locked, so I knocked. Nope. Waited. Saw a cute drag queen hostess peak through the window at me, and she proceeded to knock back. Ha! Ok, I have a sense of humor. Waited. Susan V. arrives. Not too long after, the doors swung open, we checked our coats in and went straight to the bar - well, it was right in front of us, we couldn't help it! :D We both had drinks with Brazilian acai vodka in them - yum! I love the multiple disco ball decor of the bar/lobby when you first walk in - very eye-catching. Waited. We were given a little potato chip taste with an olive, artichoke whipped concoction on top - yum, ok, we were getting hungry. We went into the main room, we took off our shoes, and made ourselves comfortable on the bed/couch/pillowy loungy area - loved it, so comfy! It was nice to be in the room first to enjoy the ambiance, very cool euro decor, lighting and dj/vj music. Other guests filed in and we were ready! Our first course was the pan-seared radicchio with buffalo mozzarella (loved the flavor combinations), second was the heirloom chicken with sauteed vegetables (tender and yummy!!) and for dessert, we had the rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream (this one won us over completely, great combination of the warm rhubarb that slowly melts the vanilla ice cream). Modern dance, interspersed opera and subtle comedy entertained us between courses. And two birthday celebrations took place. I didn't know everyone would be served dinner all at once and that set meals are served everyday (prices vary by night). Very exciting and what a well-rounded dining and entertaining experience supperclub was! I will be back! :)

My friend and I ventured to Ecco to take advantage of their $25 prix fixe restaurant week menu. We had to lock in with an early 6:30p reservation. There were a few patrons there at this time, but we definitely beat the rush. Our waiter, Brent, was really great. First of all, he was from Pittsburgh (my hometown), so he instantly got a gold star from me! He thoroughly went over the wine list with us, without being pretentious at all. We explained that we weren't wine connosuiers in the least and he helped us pair a good wine with our fish entree. He specifically did NOT try to sell us the most expensive glass / bottle - which was very appreciated. Brent was attentive and the pace of the courses were perfect. We dined on the oak grilled asparagus, arugla salad with melons and prosciutto, salt cod with saffron, cheesecake with candied cherry tomatoes and zeppoli with georgia peaches. Everything was wonderful. The portions were small - yet perfect. My friend and I had such a great time that we spent over 3 hours there! The place was really hopping when we left.
