by Robin Cuartas on I may be just a girl. But, my head for numbers couldn't let my bod for sin* have any fun at this "wanna-chic" lounge. (Despite the very dance-worthy music.) My guy and I got in just fine. The bouncers were cool and professional. Coat check was efficient albeit, a little oddly placed (in a stairwell). Downstairs was packed and upstairs was well...EMPTY. With "EMPTY" apparently being a technical industry term, I still don't get why my friends Sav and Javier (...and several other attractive friends) were turned away at the door for the simple faux pas of having penises (penisi?). I love exclusiveness, trust me. But, revenue is revenue. The bartenders were so bored that they were texting on their phones. And I'm inside receiving calls from behind the velvet rope saying the boys can't come in without more girls? What is this? A sex club? Like I said...My brain just couldn't get over the asinine door regulations! *Sorry, I just re-watched "Working Girl"! Melanie Griffiths at her peak.
by Kirsten Q. on I have nothing but love for Waziema. It's a great place to take your vegetarian and flesh-eating friends alike; the food is yummy, served communally, and downright cheap. The jukebox is well-stocked, the ambiance friendly, and the wallpaper a bit of SF history. I'd give Waziema 10 stars if I could.
