Sprawling and equipped with robotic longhorns, VET is a great-for-groups occasion venue. Happy hour margaritas ($5 for salted rim and sugary lip service from the gent behind the bar), occasional live music and weekend DJs, and pretty plain Mexican food round out VET's notable offerings. Williamsburg is good at big bars, and a south-of-the-border alternative to the neighboring Radegast is the latest mega-dive to call dibs on your next birthday party reservation. Buck the bronco - it's free pending you sign a waiver!

Fuck 40C. I hate this place. Not only for the drama that seems spawned within its walls, but for its ludicrously poor layout. The drinks are okay--I Guess. But the bathrooms open onto the dance floor. And even though it's a piece of crap place, they've got their little side room separated by a curtain for the especially cool crowd. Trash is a regular party there now, and I don't know--it's supposed to be great. But I was constantly fighting the vibe to keep my buzz when I went. You'll know it when you see the black-clad hipsters standing outside next to citizen bank. Sooooo coooool.

I honestly love this place, and I almost never go there after 1am. Yep, it's old and greasy, and that's the way it's supposed to be. If you get there before 10 or 11pm, their dinner options are also pretty darned good (best pork chops and chicken-fried steak in Atlanta in my opinion). I've never had any rude service there, although I haven't been there when it's overrun with the non-sober. The place ain't dirty... well, no worse than any other place you'd go to. Other "nicer" restaurants just hide it better 'cause you can't see the kitchen, but the cocktail of germs, bacteria, etc. can be found anywhere you eat in the country.
