COME HERE ONLY IF YOU LIKE TO WAIT FOR YOUR FOOD. for me, methinksnot. if i liked raw oysters-- i would come here just for that. but i don't. the service was terrible-- the server dude knew we were waiting awhile for our food-- so when the check came-- I was able to negotiate it down to about 50% of the original bill. but still-- it was overpriced for our experience there.

I've been to South City Kitchen a few times now. In order to truly enjoy the experience, I had to adjust my thinking. This is NOT a Southern Food restaurant and definitely not a Soul Food restaurant. It serves Southern *inspired* cuisine. That thought helps me to deal with the subtle seasoning and lack of grease... That being said, I have 4 words: Fried Freakin' Green Tomatoes. Those things are so stinking good it's ridiculous. The catfish was good too - huge, with the head still on and not overseasoned so that the natural taste of the fish could shine through. Can't remember what else I've tried but I've gone with parties of 5 and 6 and everyone consistently enjoys what they get. Good food, good atmosphere and courteous staff. Check it out. Peace.

I feel as though I was made for this club. Booze, good tunes you'll be sure to recognize even after you're long past the point of making good decisions, sweaty, gyrating bodies, and a people-watcher's playground. One word of caution: do not take those you're trying to impress, romance, and generally give off a good impression to here. It's almost guarenteed you'll wake up with a jolt of "what the hell happened last night!?!" in the morning. But of course, those are all nights we live for, and go down in the books as the ones to remember... I heart Bootie.
