Man this place is sweet! I climbed up the hill to get here from Union Square on an especially toasty day. When I finally got here, it was a cool air conditioned lovely oasis full of delicious drinks and beautiful womens. (it's right next door to the academy of arts institute). I really like the lounge section in the back... The chairs are super comfy and no one bothers you while you kick back with your feet up as you rateclub!

Ok, not to rain on the parade of all the other reviewers, but this place did not impress me, and it's for one and only one thing: their smoking policy on the patio. We roll up there around 9pm on a cold Saturday night clad in jackets and gloves, looking for a nice place in the neighborhood to grab a drink and enjoy some nicotine-y goodness and we saw this was open and came to check it out. We were greeted immediately by a very nice hostess even though the place was packed and informed her of our intentions. She said no problem, and immediately took us outside to a table on the patio. The table next to us was smoking as well, but we figured we'd wait for an ashtray. The waitress came to take our order, and when we asked for an ashtray, she said there was no smoking on the patio. Then she asked the lady next to us to put out her cigarette. We decided to give it a chance anyway and have a drink, and they were saved from a 1 star review only because the beam and diet coke was strong and was only 5 bucks (I expected them to cost more for the price of everything else on the menu). However, to smoke, I would have had to leave the outside patio, walk all the way through the restaurant, and out the front door, so we decided to hightail it to the veranda instead, where we could smoke outside! To clarify, it was after regular dinner hours, and the only clientele outside were either lighting up "unauthorized" cigarettes or saying they wanted to smoke. If it was a patron that was offended, I'd understand a bit more, but come on. You take the ENTIRE insides of bars (which I've come to terms with), but you also take the patio? It's 50 fucking degrees outside, why else would we be out here? Then, our drinks took about 20 minutes to get to us (I think our desire to smoke outside offended her) and the check took at least 10 when we asked for it. I would give it a chance to eat, but honestly the food selection wasn't that intriguing for the prices listed. If you're a non-smoking sports fan that considers yourself upscale and you have some money to burn on dinner and drinks - this is your place. Not mine though!

I walked in and the crowd looked they were coming from a pete wentz / lily allen fan club meeting. That's ok-- I was prepared for the hipster-ness of it. If I hadn't been, this would be one star less. Drinks are well poured, if overpriced. It is a great place to see the smaller bands that play here. Sometimes you can also catch some bigger acts on their way up. Acoustics aren't great but I love the layout. And how many other places can you watch a band rock out while you play a game of pool in the back?
