by Kaila Troxell on Alright, let me preface this by saying that Woodfire Grill is one of the best, if not the best, meal experiences I've ever had. I don't even LIKE wine all that much, but I got the wine pairings, and the sommelier is SO talented and I drank so much and it was all 100% worth it and delicious. I suppose that could be the review, but honestly Kevin's food deserves more than that. My cousins (the wonderful people they are!) took me to Woodfire while I was visiting them, and we all got the 5-course tasting menus. Mine, of course, was vegetarian. This was the first awesome thing about the place, that they actually had a vegetarian tasting menu. And a GOOD one at that. Lots of local produce made up the dishes, as well as hearty grains (the best risotto I've ever had, butternut squash and greens... heaven in a bowl) and yummy cheeses. The roasted beet course with broccoli puree was also to-die-for. Even though it was 5 courses, the chef sent out two extra courses (at the beginning and halfway through) that were both great. The truffle deviled egg was especially scrumptious. And both of the extra courses came with extra wine pairings, both of which went fabulously with them (of course). For the meat-eaters out there, my cousins both enjoyed their meals a LOT as well. They had some really interesting looking dishes, and all of it smelled wonderful. I liked that the chef incorporated lots of variety in the meats (they had everything from oysters to sweetbreads in one meal) and the sommelier had separate wine pairings for them that went perfectly with their dishes. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. The atmosphere, the chef, the food. Everything was perfection. I wasn't sure why Kevin didn't win Top Chef when it happened, and I'm even more unsure of why he didn't, now. If you're even somewhat close to Woodfire Grill (as in you're visiting states near Georgia or are living in the south or something), GO. Make reservations now, they book up really quickly because of everything I've mentioned in this review. :)
by Vallie Dalponte on Well!! I made reservations for a "Divas Night Out" for my motorcycle club...I ended up increasing the number of attendees about (2) days prior to the event. Upon arriving, we were seated in a very nice loft area and told that our buffet would be ready shortly...STOP!! we didnt order a buffet so I asked to see reservations....so much confusion and so little communication, I was sent to the waitress then the bartender (who by the way seemed to have started happy hour shortly before coming to work) then even the cook got into the whole fiasco...After being brushed off for (1 1/2) hours the manager finally arrived much to my frustration and rather than coming and addressing my group, he walks up, says to the waitress "Move them downstairs" and attempts to walk off with not even the slightest nod in our direction. We were moved to (3) tables put together right infront of the entrance (yep, we froze). My guests were very unhappy especially since we all had to sit with out coats on!!! I was not impressed with DJangos in the least bit, they couldnt even get the grilled cheese sandwich correct!! But I try to find a positive out of every experience-our waitress really tried!! She was brand spankin new so she had no idea what to do, but she tried, and thats all that matters.
by Patti C. on I'm no regular, but I've been coming to The Local for six years. Hardly anything has changed in that time, which is great, because what they've got works. This is one of my favorite places to meet up with friends and knock back a beer or four. The patio provides a break from the smoky interior, as well as excellent Ponce de Leon people-watching opportunities.
