If you don't get the chef's menu which is umpteen courses, you really increase the chances of a normal dinner. My server Fouzy seemed to know when we were ready for the next course, and also has vast cultural knowledge of the middle east...my gf who is from Turkey, had a great experience, and the country salad of fresh tomatoes, cumcumbers, onions, olives, feta, swimming in olive oil and herbs, brought tears to her eyes...The music is also very med-sea like and there is a dj spinning on weekends

I'm noticing there there seems to be a lot of confusion with people reviewing the nightclub and the restaurant... This review is for the restaurant. I went with the BF, and we both had differing opinions about this place. He thought it felt too impersonal, too "night club-y" for his tastes. He said it was too much like having dinner in a night club. I, on the other hand, kinda liked it. I thought it was different, the decor was very modern and,yes - night club-y. I think this place would be much better suited coming to with a group of friends than an intimate dinner for two. The food: We were pleasantly surprised! We had the curry chicken empanadas and tempura green beans to start. Both were delicious and in fairly generous portions. I really enjoyed the green beans dipped with the accompanied sauce - the flavors really complimented each other. For dinner, I ordered the beef short rib and the BF had the ahi tuna. I was totally digging the beef. It was tender beyond expectation - and served on top of a perfectly seasoned and cooked risotto. The portion was also very good - not too much, not too little. The Ahi tuna was also wonderful. It was seared just right and served on top of a bed of peanut sauce noodles. For some reason, the flavor of the peanut sauce just made the ahi taste that much better. Service was excellent - we never had to ask for anything, our waitress was attentive, personable and fun. We were really surprised at what a great meal we had, we'll probably be back with a group of friends...

Funny thing is, on the surface this club shouldn't really be my favorite in SF. The decour is too swanky, and it feels sort of- I dunno- bleak outside. I mean, it's not like this venue is looking out over beautiful sunrises on the water, for example. But for some, OK many- reasons, this place is one of my favorites in SF, if not the world, and for reasons that make it truly San Franciscan. The place is built for dancing. Can you beat those wooden floors? Ixnay. Did anyone know that the sound system is that of the former Club Townsend? That's right- go give those speakers a big wet one next time they're making your night move, because they deserve every bit of love you can give. Secondly, the choices in bookings is phenomenal- I've been there too many times to count, and nearly always am impressed with the music.
