This place is interesting, food is pretty tasty, but they're supposedly known for their drinks. personally, i think everything is overpriced, but hey, it's in hollywood. what do you expect? Came here in my janky ass car, which i parked using the valet service behind the restaurant. 10 effin bucks. jeez, i coulda bought 10 bottles of sweet baby ray's for that much. anyway, walk around to the velvet margarita, and it looks like its closed. they have this metal garage-door design thing that makes the restaurant look shadier than the devil that roams hollywood blvd. I go inside, and being the idiot i am, missed my reservation. (actually i blame my date, who took like 40 minutes to get ready. eff herrr.) anyway, we got a new reservation (got there at 8:10, new reservation was at 9:30-- so unless you wanna wait, make sure you pimpslap your girl so she's ready on time) we roamed hollywood blvd and nearly got raped, but that's a whole different story. at 9:30 we went back to the restaurant and were seated promptly. we ordered two $5 margaritas, a pink puta, a pina colada, a chile relleno and mahi tacos. the waiter gave us a basket of red chips hot from the fryer and three different types of dip (2 salsa, 1 bean). By this time, we were starving, so i made the mistake of filling up on the chips. Soup or salad comes with the dishes, which are all 16.50. Not exactly WORTH the money, but like i said, its hollywood. I got the tequila shrimp bisque, she got the caesar salad. both were good, but nothing special. margaritas were served on the rocks and werent very strong (although my 5' asian, date got drunk off of one. how embarassing.) i got my pina colada served in a pineapple cause i guess they didnt have any coconuts shipped that week. the pina colada is probably the only reason I'd come back to this place. best pina colada ever, its smooth, creamy, and freakin delicious. Even my date, who hates coconut, loved it. Food was good, but nothing special. the pink puta (tequila+strawberry puree+half and half) tasted like a strawberry smoothie with alcohol. No thanks. I could make my own using strawberry whey protein and a handle of popov. Not exactly a fan of this one. Long story short, come here for the pina colada; at 12 bucks, it may seem a bit pricey, but come on, they're sacrificing a whole pineapple to serve your drink in. come here for the food if youre high rollin, but you can get tastier, cheaper eats at a food truck.

You have officially hit rock bottom, welcome and congratulations! Coming to drink, dance, and get AIDS at Hong Kong is not unpopular since it is always busy, especially on the weekends. On the bright side, this means your not alone...though you are still disgustingly desperate. Also, since it is right across from Harvard, there are always some undergrads coming through "The Kong". This is a volume drinking joint--all the drinks have that bottom shelf feel and taste, that is except for the scorpion bowl. Sweet, sweet scorpion bowl how I love your delicious nectar, turning even the most border line 2 into at least a 8.5. The music is top 40s playing, which only makes drinking a better idea. Once you get that liquid courage flowin' in your bones try a little dancing--don't worry, they will come to you. No one really knows how many floors the Hong Kong has. The first floor, and the least vomit ridden one, servers up some delicious Chinese food. Well delicious may be too strong of food. Palatable, perhaps. The fare is what you would expect from the typical lower end Chinese place. There is a full bar, a big plus. The yang chow fried rice (shrimp, chicken, pork, egg, etc) is really good, especially if you add some sweet and sour sauce. The place is open late, cheap, and delivers too. Hong Kong was recently remodeled, so the inside of the restaurant is looking better, but it also recently had a fire so yeah... Bottom Line:Stay downstairs and mack on some dumplings and scorpion bowls. Depending on how you feel about crabs you can then go upstairs.

Very, VERY glad I turned to rateclubs last night. I found this place after wanted to give into my hankering for Chinese food without regretting it later that night and the following day. I ordered typical fare... sesame chicken, crab rangoon (my favorite), vegetable fried *brown* rice and hot and spicy tofu for Veg. boyfriend. Now, the crab rangoon (which is all that really matters) was different than any I've ever had. It was crispy on the outside, then soft and somewhat sweet in the inside like a pastry. Heavy on the crab, not as heavy on the cream cheese... I'd give it 3 stars. The hot & spicy tofu was apparently not so spicy, but all in all the food was extremely enjoyable. And no regrets the next day!
