This club is a bit of a sleeper among the buzzed-about giants of the Meatpacking District, but despite the lack of hype it's really frickin awesome. The decor is classy and refreshing: huge crystal chandelier, velvet booths, and carved wood paneling with nary a laser in sight. It's pretty much what Mansion should have looked like based on the name. But stuffy Griffin is not, I learned as I drunkenly danced on the center platform while trying not to fall or show my Britney. Nor is the door policy unfairly strict, at midnight on a Friday we easily got in sans cover with a mixed-gender group. The crowd was good-looking but not intimidatingly so, and surprisingly the guys were probably better looking than the girls. Griffin's best feature by far was the music which consisted of poppy techno and one or two hip hop songs. Nothing cliche, nothing too mainstream or too out there, and great mixing. Perfect for my platform dancing. Shout out to Jeff, the dead sexy Bradley Cooper-lookalike bartender who custom mixed some dangerously good (but slightly expensive) drinks. Don't mind the $16 price though, for a club like this Griffin's drinks are larger and much stronger than average so you'll probably only need 2. Be safe now, kids.

Hiro actually deserves 2.5 but I'll be generous and give it 4 stars. I was enticed to come here because everytime I drove by duing the summer and saw a looooooong line outside, usually mainly well dressed, young, and Asian (probably due Base throwing their parties there frequently in the past) and my friend spotted Ashton Kutcher (without Demi!) partying with friends there on a random night. The layout is good (although much smaller than I expected and not as nice as what the pictures show), theres a small stage, small dance floor, some couches, the bar to one side, and a cozy upstairs with booths and anothe bar. The trapeze/ribbon dancers are a nice touch but the lighting seemed very off and didnt do much to flatter the trapeze girls. Had fun, not the time of my life, but would probably come back here again if I'm in the mood.

I have finally found the mecca of my slumming around, dive bar looking fun! This is what you think of when you think of going to a dive bar. Now I know you are afraid that it might be a little bridge and tunnel, but we can't keep everything to ourselves. Just get ready to drink some cold draft beers, nice cocktails and to be blasted with a crowded bar full of people! But it is fun! I am telling you this.
