by Jerry Pallotta on The only place in NY - well, maybe not the only - but the best (considering other options like Pacha, which are gross) for heavy house music. Be drunk. Be into Eurotrash. Be into that Meatpacking annoyance of waiting to get in line. But if you're a cute girl - you may be able to shmooze out of paying cover (hehe). Be into great, world-renowned DJ's. If you follow the above directions - you will have fun at Cielo.
by Larry Coral on Part dive, part frat-bar, part upper west side staple, Jake's Dilemma somehow manages to be awesome. Yes it'll be crowded. Yes, you may get beer spilled on you. Yes there are plenty of jagerbombs served. But you will have fun and you will come back. I often think the best bars don't need reasons for being good, you just know they are great because you keep stumbling back to them time and time again. Jake's Dilemma is one of these bars. By all indications it should blow. It should be just the same as it's neighbor (and co-owned?) bar the Gin Mill, fulfilling every single stereotype of a college frat bar dive. In fact it does fulfill all of these. But in a seemingly impossible way, Jake's Dilemma doesn't suck.
by Min Y. on Pros: diverse crowd, different options in terms of music/atmosphere. There are multiple rooms spinning different music so you can pick and choose. Also there are outside areas too if you need to take a breather. I do appreciate the diversity of the crowd but sometimes I feel like it will randomly be asian or indian night, haha. Cons: $10 cover. ugh. also, pricey drinks inside. an enjoyable time and a way to appeal to all of my friends... the ones who like to just relax and have a drink can chill outside while the ones who want to shake it can have fun too. a broad appeal bar which would be awesome if it wasn't for the cover
