by Gael T. on I came here with a friend after a Climate Theater event (Paul Nathan's Devil in the Deck - which was excellent!) hoping for a quick bite to eat and perhaps a drink. I was excited to try it out! Unfortunately they were hugely understaffed, with just one waitress and bartender managing the whole restaurant. The bartender said they had gotten a surprise rush, but I happened to know that the owner had been forewarned by the Climate Theater Director that they should expect a rush right after the show ended, so he should have taken her advice and hired on extra staff for the night. Bad mistake. We showed up at 9:15, and had to wait until 9:40 before we finally got our drinks and were able to order our food! I told the waitress that we were on a timeline - I had to leave by 10:20 - so she suggested a couple of things that should only take about 15 minutes to come out. So I ordered the butternut squash soup and the baby grilled vegetables, and my friend switched from the spaghetti and meatballs (supposedly it would take about 1/2 hour) to the grilled artichoke. Well, 35 minutes later, our food finally arrived. Unfortunately, just as I had suspected from watching the kitchen, my food had been sitting under the heat lamp while they were waiting for my friend's artichokes to grill, so my food was only mildly warm when it finally arrived at our table. I quickly ate my soup, which was delicious, but after the 2 minutes it had taken me to eat the soup, my grilled vegetables were cold. Salty, cold, overly-grilled baby vegetables. Yuck. I asked for the check immediately - the waitress should have remembered we were in a hurry and offered to bring the check as soon as she brought out the food since it came out so late - but she didn't. I had to leave before our check came, to go pick up my husband at the climbing gym, 5 minutes away. When I returned 15 minutes later, the waitress still had not brought out the check! I had to go up to the counter to ask her for the check. She brought out some little ramekans of blood orange sorbet - I assume as an apology for the horrible service - but she didn't apologize or even mention anything about the slow service, lack or response, or anything. What a bummer. I go to the Climate Theater once a month or so, so I had hoped to find a great restaurant/lounge that I would be happy to come to again and again, but obviously it's not Medici.
by Shanti Siu on Great size venue for your favorite musical group. We went to see Julia Fordham and it was just a great concert and such an intimate setting. Wow.
by Devina F. on This place would get 3 stars if it wasn't for the fifty dollar minimum on credit card tabs. Also--$25 for cover is a little too steep. Music was OK--typical top 40 and some 80's, the crowd was diverse, and it got packed--fast. All in all-- "it's OK".
