by Robert O. on I've been to Ecco three times now, and all three times the staff have been attentive andexcellent, the atmosphere busy and interesting (a little loud though), and the food mostly excellent. Their signature cocktails have proven interesting and delicious both times I have tried them. The bar itself is usually also busy, and the bartenders are also good, even under the crush of busy. Their small plate/appetizer fare is excellent, especially the cured meats and cheeses, which we were almost fighting over we enjoyed them so much. I had a fantastic salad the first time I went there, and the fish entree that I had the first visit was fantastic. My only quibble across the two visits was that the cut of meat that was served to me as my strip steak was not a fine restaurant quality cut of meat. It was gristley and very tough. As a result I cannot recommend this particular dish, nor would I order it again. Despite this one bad dish, I still give them a 4/5 stars because the staff and other food I have had there was solid. Just go somewhere else for a steak. Right now, they have their Sirens of the Sea menu. I had the sardine, which is a whole fish served with chick peas. It's a large sardine, and was delicious, if you can stomach going the whole fish route.
by B. Jane G. on went to a show here last night. if i didnt like the groups, and the DJ wasnt killing it, the place would have sucked, obviously. VDRK hosted & it was sick. I'd go back if they did another party there, but no i would not go back otherwise. so basically the place gets 1 star, but i had such a good time i just pushed it to 3.
by Stewart Bardeen on Really slow service. Ordered 4 drinks. 3 cocktails, 1 champagne.$51. Champagne flute had lipstick smears all the way around the rim. Also, completely flat. Not one bubble. I don't want to think about how long that bottle had been open. Sent the glass back. Waiter comes back with another glass, this time a half pour. Perfect. Lastly, no music in the room.
