Whenever I am back in ny I hit NYPC. It feeds your soul. Makes you feel more alive. And...this is going back some years now...I performed some of my teen-angst poetry there. I have no idea how good it was but it's something everyone should do once. Thanks for keeping on keeping on.

If you're a woman and you're looking to get your ass grabbed by a random guy, oilcan's is the place to go. I and two of my friends have all had the same experience - we think we're dancing with a bunch of gay guys and suddenly we get groped. Maybe they're gay and being outrageous. More likely they're straight and getting their jollies. Who knows? But be prepared. Other than that it's an ok place to dance.

They have the shortest toilets EVER!! Seriously, that is the main thing I remember about the location itself, because I'm short. I never encounter a toilet that makes me think "DAMN, that toilet is short!" It reminded me of the time I went to parent-teacher conference at my kid's elementary school and went to use the facilities, and was confronted with a row of toilets meant for those 3' and under. At the Rrazz room, I was so startled I thought someone had left the seat up and I was falling in. Nope, just a super-short toilet. My feet practically flew up in the air! Not to go on about it endlessly, it was just a big surprise. Oh, the rest of the place? We went to see Keely Smith here and it was amazing. A nice, dark, intimate setting (a little too intimate, I was practically sitting in the gentleman next to me's lap. And I didn't know him). But then again, it was Keely Smith. When I got up during the show to make my fateful trip to the ladies room, I had to stumble over a bunch of people, and I did note that it was standing room only. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this is a generally over 40 set, which is to be expected when an 80 year old legend is performing. I was raised on swing, so even though I'm way under 40, I hardly felt out of place. It's not like oldsters are giving you the stink eye. The accoustics are great. I could hear every naughty comment Ms. Smith made, and hear every lyric. It was wonderful. The service was very nice and everyone seemed very happy. Oh, and of course, Willie Brown arrived late so as to make a dramatic entrance. He arrived with his statuesque blonde date in tow. Cool night. And Ms. Smith generously allowed my dorky, star-struck self to take a picture after the show, so ten stars for her!! She was so gracious with her fans. Rrazz Room books impressive talent, I see myself coming back here a LOT.
