The line was out the door and out in the streets..too bad I didn't have to wait in that line..haha..it's nice to know someone. :) Had some friends visiting from DC wanted to show them a good time and show em how we party in LA...this was the hottest spot to be at. Playhouse plays some good music definitely played some old school jams that brought back some good memories...Nice looking crowd for a Saturday night..could've been a better mix... Pros-good music, good atmosphere, loving the layout of the club Cons-old ass douche bags thinking they could impress you with your money..puhleaseee I don't give a f*ck if you have a table.get lost! Would I go back..MOST DEFINITELY!!!

A very good place to wet your whistle late at night. It's in the far west area of SoHo, so make sure you know how to get there because the surroundings can be vacant. They give you alot for your money. You can really get drunk quick in a nice atmosphere. I think the bartender was drunk when I came because I asked for a double shot and he gave me the equivalent of like 5 shots. Not alot of females when I went there, but a genuine Irish bar filled with people who love to drink.

Unfortunately for the club owners of Los Angeles, i am an experienced international clubber with an unparalleled taste level. Meaning i am extremely tough but fair on night clubs. LETS speak on the Mayan Its right downtown and pretty easy to get to. There are plenty of "affordable" parking lots right around the club with a few areas where you can get some street parking. Outside is nothing special but the inside has some cool Mayan carvings. The sound system, oddly enough, is too loud. My ears really hurt after being in the main room for an hour or so. They have a back room that plays hip hop but the AC is non existent. Its a sweat box. Those are my pluses and my "ehhs" on the clubs. For the negatives First of all, I dont know about you but i do NOT frequent clubs that have metal detectors and pat downs at the front door. WHAT?? You want to search me to go into a nightclub?? Is this Columbia or Los Angeles?? Di i look like im holding?? Its ridiculous to go through this for a good time. My other concern is the "dress code" which basically means no tennis shoes (not that I call my jordans tennis shoes, sorry babies). In 2008 i dont get this policy at all. I go out to hot clubs in beverly hills, santa monica, miami wearing tennis shoes and you mean to tell me i cant get into a club LIKE THIS wearing clean and fashionable kicks?? Amazing. My buddy told me that it was a no tennis shoes club in advance, so dont mistake, i didnt have a problem getting in. Its just the last club that i went to that required dress shoes was so upscale (in all ways) that it also required slacks and jackets for men (which i had no problem with as EVERY GUEST WAS WELL DRESSED) This place is not upscale in the least bit. I guess they are trying but it comes across as more of pretending. Let me say again this place was not upscale in the least bit. I feel like when you claim to have a high end only dress code, you should be a high end club. Period period. There were some pretty girls there. Nothing overwhelming for LA but if you want to major in Latina american studies, you can probably find a few cute study buddies of various sizes and looks. I went before because my friend in the neighborhood invited me out. I am not in a hurry to go back there. Ive never been to a concert there so i have no opinion on that.
