The only downside that ruins Cielo for me, is the fact that the security at the door is one notch above a rubber glove airport screening for an Arab holding the Quran. Very invasive. Further ruining the mood is the bouncers who walk around like prison guards shining flashlights and watching everybody. I can never relax and have a good time if I feel I'm being "watched", with bouncers invading my personal space looking for who knows what. One of the bartenders was kinda cool - and the bathroom attendant is cool, and I like the smoking area. Other than that, eh.... I'd rather hit up something more underground. It's a tourist trap for people who don't know New York and buy into the hype around the brand name and the DJ talent they book. Music is good if you like the more popular house/techno DJ's - but other than that, there are better venues with a cooler crowd and less rude staff.
by Jennifer L. on Emailed back and forth with a promoter who promised to get me and my girlfriends in Saturday night. He asked me to call when I got there so I did. He said to go tell the person that I was on his list and that if there were any problems to call again and he'd personally come out and walk us in. As you can see in my rating, that did not happen. We waited and waited and waited only to find that we still had to pay $20/person to get in. And the promoter (after multiple phone calls) said he'd come get us but he never showed. Because it was a friend's b-day and we were already there and all that, we decided to walk down the street (like half a block down hollywood blvd) and go to the ATM to get cash out. I DO NOT pay for clubs. This is why I rarely ever party in LA. A lot of promoters think they're the sh*t and they still make people wait. Anyway so we FINALLY get in after waiting for an eternity. We go to the bar where, it seemed, they were all female bartenders. That's irrelevant, but the fact that our bartender was SUPER confused and didn't know what she was doing was annoying. She'd make a drink for the guy next to me and give it to someone at the other side. And when the guy next to me got his drink and realized it was the wrong one, she throws it out and makes it over. And we had to tell her our order of 3 drinks like 4 times. I ordered a Malibu/pineapple and she starts pouring some different kind of rum and says "oh, it's all the same" or something like that. Umm... when a customer requests a particular brand, there's usually a reason. But they must not even have it because when we went to the other bar, they did the same thing and gave me a different rum. Anyway, the crowd was not very good-looking... not that we're supermodels, but we ain't ugly! Maybe we were on the wrong floor? And the DJ sucked. When we were outside or at the bar, the music seemed good, but then we get to the dancefloor and the music was crap. Oh and the valet took FOREVER. I waited and waited and then got to thinking, what if someone took my car?!?! Okay soo it's a good thing I had great company and can have fun wherever we go, but overall, I was disappointed with the club and even more disappointed with the promoters.
