oh what can I say about opera? definitely this place wants to make a statement. At least every Friday night, there's a grip load of Asians waiting outside in line to get in the club. To hype up the club. Of course, once you walk in. you realize how dead and empty the place is... And all that hype outside was a "pure scheme" to get people in. (but since I used to be a frequent club goer, you realize most clubs use this tactic) Opera is actually a nice club, once you walk in you enter the outside patio smoking area with lots of tables for bottle services. Once you enter inside, you notice the dance floor is relatively small. Surrounding the dance floor is 2-3 bars and tables. Usually you run into mill of creepers and dudes who do not get the point.... that if your interested in dancing with them the first time. Please don't bother to dance on me or ask me to dance again. thankyouverymuch. of course you have your standard Hollywood way, over-priced poor quality drinks the bartenders make. And they pocket so much of your tips from your drunkass. Other than that, it's not where you go, it's who you go with. that makes the difference.

You know it was a good night when you wake up thinking....1) Why is my head pounding??!?!?!...2) Gawwwwd...how much did I drink last night....3) Why is the room spinning???...and 4) someone put me out of my misery!! Ok...so it wasn't that bad, but my head was pounding and it felt like the dosh dosh dosh from the bass kept going in my head. It was my friend's friend's birthday, and I just tagged along because I had been cooped up all week at home. I was in need of a drink...or two..or three.... The guestlist was free before 10, but due to pre-drinking, we got there right at 10, and ended up paying $15 because we had to wait in line. No biggie...we had our buzz going, and it would've cost us more than $15 for the amount of drinks we already had. The drinks kept flowing, and I think the music was good, but too much alcohol makes that part a bit fuzzy( http://static.px.rateclub....). I've heard this place can get really packed, but it wasn't that bad....there was still room to dance and walk around without being all up in someone else's business. I know alot of people don't like this place, but I've only been here once, and I had alot of fun....so for now, I give it 4 stars!

One of those fusion restaurants in SF city that try to be hip, cool, green, yuppie-ish, modern and cultured. Overall I think they did a pretty good job trying to achieve that goal, and the place certainly did attract lots of people in their 20s~30s, great marketing! I appreciate the urban-exotic decor such as the Buddha paintings and the elephant sculptures. The interior was nicely designed like a futuristic temple. I also like the fact that Prana is very spacious in contrast to many popular restaurants in SF that just try to fit in as many seats and tables as possible in their limited space. Since our party was big, we had to go with a fixed menu. I was a bit bummed out since I really wanted to try their famous ravioli. We had the Chinese sausage pizza and tomato mozzarella appetizers which were nicely prepared but very ordinary. I was starting to get a bit disappointed. Lets just say my attitude was changed 180 degree when the entrees showed up. I was sooooo impressed with my entree, the Mushroom Scallopini. It was so delicious and tasty without being overwhelmed by spices or salt. The mushroom was juicy and soft, covered by crispy tasty breading that's not too thick. I am a meat eater, but I'd rate their Mushroom Scallopini in the same league as any good steak I've had. The polenta that came with the dish was probably the best I've had. The brocollini was well cooked and still had a crunchy texture, excellent~ I'd give Prana 5 stars if the appetizers and desserts were as good as the entrees. Also, the protions need to be bigger to satisy a large appetite like mine. The staff was friendly and attentive, but sometimes forgetful, probably because our party was big. The bill at the end was $60 per person which was expected. We'll definitely come here again~
