We waited forever for entry, ladies free all night but we still waited for hours . It was ok atmosphere, mostly wannabe bougie crowd. Alittle dancing and mostly onlookers looking at people who are dancing. I felt the hype of the club wasnt what i thought of it at first and its definitely has a upnorth vibe is ok but annoying! The people compare and complain about the club and the atl ppl , so what! Plus, its to far for me from East Point ! ;)

I was here on Saturday night for some type of art show which included fashion and jewelry sales from up and coming local artists and designers. I'm glad I went because after paying my $7 cover, I was surrounded by great talent in a nice venue with lots of potential in the city. It's no secret that parking is horrible in San Francisco, so if you don't want to deal with finding street parking in the narrow one way streets, there is a large private lot with an on-site attendant that charges $15 bucks for the night right next door (at least that was the going rate this particular night). I really dig Mezzanine, but one thing I frowned upon was the $20 minimum charge for using your credit/debit card at the bar. Okay, not really a big deal, but on top of that, they automatically add on their 20% gratuity. Having said that, I was under the impression that the bartender that poured my martinis could have cared less about being there; not once did she crack a smile that would have earned her automatic 20% tip. The friendly door guard compensated for the not-so-friendly bartender. Mezzanine is nice and spacious; the upstairs level right by the stage is the ideal spot to get maximum a/c action when you have that many bodies heating up in there. There's adequate space at the patio for all the smokers, they have coat check service and I heard they have lots of stalls in the restroom (but I didn't use it when I was there). If I were an event planner, I'd consider Mezzanine for many, many parties. If you're a baller on a budget and in need of a venue for your party, you ought to consider Mezzanine and add me on your guest list...haha!

It's been a while since I've been to a non-heavy metal show, but this time I had to see one of my all time favs: BOBBY CALDWELL. The Rrazz Room appears to be the new hot spot for smooth jazz, R&B and mellower types of music. Since the Hotel Nikko is such a great place, I was curious to see the venue since it looks fantastic on their site. Sure enough, it met my expectations. The place is intimate and every table has a great view. The seating arrangement is surprisingly comfortable, great for a claustrophobic! The sound is fantastic and not over bearing. It'll remind you of the old jazz clubs you'd see in the movies, sans the cigarette smoke. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and a great time. Highly recommended. They do lose one star because of the shitty "standing room" only area. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind because I don't mind to stand. But the area they offered as the "designated standing area" was the hall entrance: a very awkward, noisy, high traffic spot with semi blocked views. Yes, it's an annoying spot to see a show. If they are going to offer those spots for sale, they should at least warn people it sucks. Luckily some patrons left early so we scarfed up their seats and caught the rest of the show. PS. I heard they may increase the size of the venue. I only hope it doesn't lose it's intimacy.
