by Christina L. on Jillian's is a "sports bar" ... ?? When we stopped by on Sunday to watch the Finals at Jillian's I expected that there would be room to spare considering the hoards of people in attendance to watch the game. Interestingly, I found Jillian's to be a lot of sport...not much bar. I am definitely a fan of the humongous projector screens at the front allowing for maximum sport watching enjoyment, but was surprised to see that there was barely any bar space while the rest of the area was primarily a restaurant. The upper area by the big screen were completely filled by the time we got there at the start of the 2nd quarter and the hostess told us that most people arrive 30 min before the start of the game to stake out a prime location. Madness!! After sitting sullenly in the lower area with the baby screens for ten minutes, we saw a booth open up and immediately sprang into action requesting to be moved. The hostess (5 stars!) was very accommodating and saved our Jillian's experience with an upgraded table closer to the front of the restaurant. Awesome!! Lesson learned however - if you're coming to see some sort of big game BE SURE TO GO EARLY TO STAKE OUT A SPOT. Foodwise there's a pretty good selection of beer and cocktails and the wings were pretty bomb as well. Weird thing to note and here you need to pay very close mathematical attention: 16 oz. Blue Moon: $6 23 oz. Blue Moon: $10 Yes, the smaller 16 oz. beer is a better deal than the 23 oz. WEIRD. Of course we didn't notice until after we had ordered 23 oz. but our mistake is now your benefit. All in all I enjoyed my experience at Jillian's (can't say the same about the game =/) but for a sports bar I would expect a little more flexibility in seating and a bigger bar. Jillian's = new category? Sports Restaurant?
by Jefferson Belous on I don't get it. The place is a hole in the wall, which would be fine except the food is just so-so. The service is absolute crap. Like beyond crap, actually. The food is decent, but the service was so crap, and the place so dingy that I won't be heading back anytime soon. Our server basically forgot about our table's existence since they sat us way in the back.
