Big venue. Nice looking space (despite all the cheesey Iguanas everywhere). Unfortunately, their Thurs afterwork/nighttime party was dead. I've heard about this icon for a long time and have only gone once before for a free salsa lesson with a date. I'd def go again, but I wouldnt go out of my way for it.

CLOSED! Thank God! Sometimes I'd walk to the other side of the street just to avoid being glared at! I was actually nervous about writing a review of this place while they were open! Why? Let me tell you my three experiences at Midtown Mediterranean... My brother and I walked in on the opening day with high hopes! We were excited about a space so large and with full facilities opening up in the neighborhood! I mean... they had outdoor seating, a chill out room, dance floor space, a cozy looking bar and a ton of equipment for a buffet! In a nutshell... "Whens the party!" Answer... NEVER! We came in that first day, and were very seriously escorted to the outdoor seating area where terrible German rave music was playing. We ordered humus and got an anemic little plate, with a price tag of almost $10! With a beer each... our bill came to $27! Errr... uh... OK... well... they just opened... well give them another chance in a month... let them work out the kinks... I was walking home from work and decided to pop in for a bite. Stepping inside I found myself alone? I called out with a friendly "hello" and actually had it echo back on me! Hearing me, out of the kitchen, a drop dead gorgeous woman appeared. She had the most beautiful combination of Middle Eastern and Eastern European genetics, that I think I've ever seen! I found myself thinking... "Well, if you're going to be stuck in an empty bar eating over priced hummus by yourself, this is certainly the way to do it." OK, so if you've ever seen the movie Hostel, you're going to have an idea of her personality. She had that deadness behind her eyes that gives you the chills. I asked her for a beer and a little out of fear, I asked her how business was? Eye contact like a predator,  she responded with a heavy accent, "I hate Midtown, so not good." YAY! I quickly finished my beer as she smoked and moved glasses around to avoid talking to me. I'm sure you're wondering why I'd go back a third time, and the answer is easy... they were setting up DJ equipment! I had the fleeting thought that maybe, just maybe... that's what this place is about! It's not about food... it's not about cheap drinks... maybe it's about the music? What can I say? I'm an optimist. Same German rave music turned so loud I had to leave the bar and walk into the chill out room... where to my singular horror I found a 85 year old Eastern European woman snoring with one of her eyes still open! My entrance into the room startled her and she quickly pulled a stub of chalk out of the bandanna she was wearing, then wrote a pentagram on the wall! She reached over to grab my hand so quickly that I was unable to escape! Then she bit my finger! Blood everywhere! With incredible strength she pulled me over to the pentagram and with my own blood wrote something in Latin over the pentagram! I don't know what she did to me, but I've had a rash inside my nose and can only see in black and white ever since! True story!

Really good for an Airport food. I have to spend 2 hours in Austin, TX airport and among all the restaurant, this is the only one that looks good enough for me to try. Price a bit high, but what can you expect, it's the airport
