by Ardelia Hokutan on I have been to this place about a million times. Considering it's location in retrospect to my house, it is the only place where I can get a taco or a burrito that is somewhat decent and I don't have to travel to the Mission. With that said, Nick's is good. I have had their soup, their burritos, their nachos, and of course their tacos. I recommend getting their tacos done "Nick's Way," but of course be prepared for a heart attack risk occurring. They are that good and that greasy, which creeps me out and makes my night all at the same time. Of course if you are going there, pick up a pitcher of Margaritas. Their Margaritas are strong and delicious. If you go just late enough, it transitions into a night club. Kinda random and yet it makes me sad because if they stayed opened later they could make a killing off drunk people wanting Mexican Food. Anyway, if you live anywhere close to NIck's, it is like a right of passage to go and check out this place. You are definitely in for an experience (in a completely good way), as well as some tasty food.
by Yasmine Henrich on I was wavering between 3 and 4 stars, but I decided to be an optimist and go with 4 stars. The nights I've been to Fado recently it's usually been a pretty good crowd - lots of people around, lots of fun being had, etc. Unfortunately the extended cold weather has put a damper on the whole open air rooftop thing, but when it's warm I love it up there. Inside and downstairs there's usually a kind of awkward mix of people standing and talking and people trying to dance, but I guess that's pretty standard. Oh, and a few months ago a huge fight broke out upstairs with some 'roided up dudes breaking bottles, blood on the floor and everything. Not the most pleasant thing, hopefully that's not too standard, haha...
by Michelle A. on I'd been meaning to try Ecco out for well over a year. I'm sort of upset at myself for not going sooner. This restaurant is nothing short of a fabulous dining experience that makes you feel like a somebody without breaking the bank! That said, we all dressed up, but I saw plenty of people in jeans and a nice shirt - I wouldn't say you'd want to come in sweatpants, but you don't have to make it a black tie affair either. Casual elegance is the best way to describe it. My boyfriend and I run a bi-monthly foodie meet up in Atlanta and we chose to visit Ecco during rateclubs Eats Week (you can find this review under that header as well). We ended up with plenty of food to share and an extremely friendly waiter who was pleasant, made conversation, but wasn't over-bearing. It almost felt like we were visiting a friend on their shift - something many restaurants lack in the serving department. The decor is very upscale and well done. I loved how the interior felt dark and mysterious, yet it was lit well enough to read the menus easily. It set the mood for feeling like we were about to pay triple digits a piece for our meal... except we weren't! Perusing the menu, we were all happy to see that everything sounded spectacular but nothing was over-priced. I'll admit I originally though we'd be in for a $25 plate with a tiny morsel on it, but that's not the case here! The one thing we all thought was over-priced was the meat and cheese plates, but when we saw how much cheese you received for the cost, we quickly changed our minds. Everything is affordable and the portions are beyond adequate for even the hungriest of patrons. We truly did have a lot of food. Fried goat cheese, meatballs, french fries with homemade mayo, carrots, cheese, asparagus - all this on top of our meals! The steelhead trout, the quail, the chicken, the pasta dishes... nothing fell short. Everyone was happy with their meals, the presentation was wonderful, and it was served fresh off the stove - a feat when working with larger groups. Very impressed! The rateclubs Eats menu included a dessert, which took all six of us to polish off. It was a chocolate mousse of sorts, very rich but good, with a vanilla sauce and almond brittle on the side. Pure evil, but pure southern goodness. :) I also had a cocktail, which was a bit pricey, but most restaurant cocktails typically are. It was the lemonade cocktail, which included a candied lemon on top. It tasted delicious and was worth every penny! If you're looking for a spectacular night on the town with friends, going on a date, or showing family around town, I highly recommend Ecco. Great service, friendly staff, excellent food, quality cocktails, and phenomenal dessert. You really will feel like a million bucks without ever having to spend that much.
