Hmmm.. Don't be fooled. This venue is extremely fancy, well decorated and huge... but there are some things to consider. 1. The music is totally off. I guess the DJ caters to more of an older generation, so you hear a lot of Michael Jackson and other classic old school beats. It's not "bumpin" with the newest music that everyone loves to dance to, which is exactly how I gauge the kind of clubs I like to frequent (by the % of good songs the DJ plays). 2. The bathroom line is ridiculous. For such a large venue, you'd think that there would be more accommodations. You'll be waiting in line for about 10 mins before you get your turn. 3. The place is entirely Asian. Mostly is their mid 20's and the occasional creepy ass 30-40 year old men. I guess it's like the hub for all asians in the LA area, which is kind of neat... but at the same time, I prefer diversity in the social scene. Afterall, I see too many asians at school.. 4. It's in Downtown. Meaning, you always have to take a cab. There's no way in hell you would drive out here. There is virtually nowhere to leave your car.. unless you valet (which is crazy hectic) or street park (which is near impossible). And you never want to risk a DUI. Other than these drawbacks, I'd like to say Exchange LA is pretty fun. When I went for New Years Eve 2011, we got a table upstairs right across from the DJ and right above the dancefloor, which was pretty awesome. We ordered a few bottles, and drank our night away. After that nothing else really matters I guess. You don't care about the music, the bathroom line, or the fact that everyone around you is Asian... you just want to have fun. Not bad, not great. A-OK. Come here if you're into the asian scene. If not, steer clear.

Yummy brunch, make a reservation, recommend the ricotta pancakes. Complimentary warm banana bread with honey butter comes before brunch. Drinks overpriced, but hey, we're in the meatpacking district here, $12 is "cheap" for a mint julep (at The Gansvoort bottom shelf drinks are $18). P.S. The waiter told the family next to us with kids that they put fertilizer and rat poison in the dirt under the trees, so kids, don't play there. Not something ya wanna hear at brunch...

I have not been here since 1989! I forgot where it was. Many times in the 90's I went looking for it and I could'nt find it. Then in 2006 on New Years Day My friend and I ended up outside the place. We were not too crazy about the line of drunken louts outside so we decided to go somewhere else. I do recall getting drunk and having a discussion with some black guy about his teenage son doing well in school and not being a thug. , Almost 20 years later I hope the kid stuck with it. Maybe he's a Dr.. As for the old black guy, I wonder if he's even alive anymore.
