my stomach absolutely loves me right now. restaurant week win, for sure. favorite dishes include but are not limited to: the HUMMUS topped with richly flavored olive oil and the red beet salatim. my lips just smacked thinking about it. course numero dos: brussel sprouts! the whipped feta complements it very nicely, it's super creamy so you only need a tiny amount on each sprout. fried cauliflower also a total win, especially the dill dipping sauce. third course: braised beef cheek and the branzino. the meat melted in my mouth and the fish was perfectly crispy and accompanied by a delectable cucumber salad. dessert: almond semifreddo: almond extract infused custard -like dessert with a perfect touch of crispiness. i never wanted it to end. also loved that the chocolate hazelnut rugelach was served with a miniature glass of warm milk sprinkled with cinnamon and over quince jam. amazing. service was impeccable: bright, smiling faces, sophisticated servers with complete knowledge of the menu items, and even a visit by the restaurant manager. only complaint is the bussers being a little TOO efficient...trying to clear our plates before we finished that last pomegranate seed -- yes, that good. if my wallet would let me, i'd be back here tomorrow. and the next day. and the next day. absolute fan.

Yummy brunch, make a reservation, recommend the ricotta pancakes. Complimentary warm banana bread with honey butter comes before brunch. Drinks overpriced, but hey, we're in the meatpacking district here, $12 is "cheap" for a mint julep (at The Gansvoort bottom shelf drinks are $18). P.S. The waiter told the family next to us with kids that they put fertilizer and rat poison in the dirt under the trees, so kids, don't play there. Not something ya wanna hear at brunch...

I just saw Apples in Stereo here. I thought the venue was really nice, the atmosphere was definitely laid back for those who want to relax and enjoy the show, or high intensity for those who want to get up and dance. The acoustics were better than most other venues. The food was sort of expensive, but I liked the option of being able to sit down and eat at a venue. And the portions were more than I expected too. But it just didn't do it for me. This is the first time I've been here because not many big artists do play here. And looking at the list of upcoming bands, I probably won't be back for a while. The venue is great, but the lineups that they have are much more diverse in musical genre than what fits me. I know whatever R5 offers I will enjoy, since I am into the indie music scene. But I won't be sure about what the World Cafe offers...
