The SOMA area around 11th Street and Mission feature many bars, lounges and clubs that remind me of Old Town. It is like one of those area where it might have been cool like 20 years and it used to be the spot but now it is just passe. I think true San Franciscans still go there since other parts of the city are overly B&T. Most of the joints around are pretty beat but still plenty of fun. When Sloane opened, it seemed that the place was made for the B&T crowd and to rejuvenate the area. The place is beautiful with a grandiose bar that spans much of the venue. Square footage is lacking for my taste, very small gathering area with a small loft up top. Not really a dance place but cool place to chill. Crowd size is very volatile, have seen some nights with solid crowd and some with very little showing. Takes awhile to get a drink too at the bar.

Im a regular at Iguanas, you will find me there on friday nights. What i like most about Iguanas is that you have 3 options. You can enjoy dinner on the main floor. If your in the mood for some latin music upstair is pure salsa and merengue. If your in the mood for hip hop/reggaedownstair section will keep you moving all night. An added plus drinks are reasonable. A must go

Went on a Saturday night. HORRIBLE! Is there a zero-star option? One star seems too generous. We decided to go on the promise of reduced admission. We have never paid admission anywhere but it was getting late and we just decided to go for it. After being patted down (where else in Meatpacking does this occur? wtf?) we were charged $20. "But the gentleman at the door gave us reduced admission," I said. I was told that regular admission is $25 so we DID get reduced admission. Even the most popular clubs only charge $20 at most, if at all. After forking over my $20, the music came to a halt for no particular reason for about 1-2 minutes. This happened several times. Music was bad (really crappy house no one could dance to.) I'm a fan of house but maybe there is better music on other nights because people rave about it. On a Saturday - not doing it for me. The crowd was shockingly terrible. Young, loser-y and not a decently attractive guy in sight. My friend and I kept giving each other looks and decided to leave- RUN- away from this place and consider it $20 each spent to know better next time. The only good thing was the bartender wasn't a jerk and let me close my tab after having ordered only one $14 cocktail. I couldn't have been more relieved.
