so so crowded with people dancing their asses off to some pretty sweet afrojams. i paid $5 to get in and another $5 for a strangely good whiskey-orange-ginger drink. bass kind of crapped out halfway through the night. it was discouraging, but then someone busted out a bigass drum to make up for it. nice.

I held my husband's birthday dinner here on Saturday. 15 people, $41 prix fixe menu, 3 course dinner. Every bite of everything was tasty and delicious. All you can eat fried won ton chips and dipping sauces. Free tiny sampler taste of tuna tar tar on plantane. It seemed like everyone ordered the kobe beef carpaccio or scallops for the first course. All good. coconut corn bisque, good to the last spoonful. For the main course, half of use ordered the sea bass, the other half ordered the rib eye. The rib eye was cooked to perfection and every bite was seasoned well. The sea bass was alright, and the portion was dainty, but still good. The service was very attentive, the kind of not in your face but every time you needed something and looked up, they were there. They also keep track of who orders what, so there is no, "rib eye? who ordered the rib eye?" They just bring it to you. I like that. There is something on the bill called a Healthy SF tax, which I have never seen before, and the bill came up to $60 per person (drinks were separate) after tip, taxes, and cake cutting fee. All good considering the place was clean, cool decor, great service, and we got to stay for the temple club after wards.

My freshman year at Tech, I lived in one of the dorms that was literally right on the interstate, across from the Varsity. There's nothing like an orange freeze to take the stress off of cramming for finals.
