by Kelvin Troha on DANGEROUS, RUDE, OUTLANDISHLY EXPENSIVE, AND NOT FOR 'REAL' BOWLERS. If you bring your own ball, the machines mess up and get stuck in the ball shoot. Our group asked why this kept happening and they came and fixed it twice. When we let them know that this kept happening, they finally admitted this always happens when people use their own balls. Now remember, your time is running out each time you have to go get these folks to fix the machine on this already ridiculously expensive place (and I'm not a price shopper). We asked that they just remove the cover so we could fix it ourselves, and they said, "Just come and get us." Instead we removed the cover because we could not find them. At this point one of the people in our group got hurt by the ball return. When we ask for ice, the manager, Troy, yelled that she was an idiot. Not only was this guy not a nice man, he also doesn't know much about risk management. We were all so upset that we left, and they actually billed us MORE than we owed. Trust me when I say these guys look and act like they are gangsters, not business people. It is a nice looking place, but that is literally all it has going for it, and I'd be shocked if people are truly loyal. If management changed maybe it would have a shot. But, get real...WE HAVE CHOICES.
by Tony Z. on One of New York City's top nightlife destinations. Superb sound system. World class DJs, ranging from Roger Sanchez and Frankie Knuckles to Francois K and Kaskade. This is a room built for house music. Intimate, no nonsense. Is their attitude at the door? Sure. A little, but not too much that you'll be passed over. This club has a committed crowd who generally support the venue week after week. It's only a tourist destination if that tourist is from a house music loving country, like England, Spain, France, Brazil, Canada, etc... Generally, the vibe is smooth, funky, four on the floor house music with a bit of soul thrown in for good measure. This is the spot that is holding it down in NYC. It is missing a bit of that raw energy one would get at Shelter or Body and Soul. It's meant to replicate, but not copy that feeling. I also love the light show and the placement of the DJ booth and dance floor. Some don't like that the dance floor is sunken, but it makes for good people watching, and I think, but I'm not sure, deadens the sound below ear level of the people standing around the outsides. The further the sound has to travel and be absobed by bodies below everyone else, I think the easier it is for you to hear someone next to you. The venue has won the URB Magainze best club award numerous times. I'm not giving it 5 stars though, because I haven't yet been to Ibiza and I'm not sure yet that it compares to that level of clubbing experience. But, I'm sure it's pretty darn close.
by Laura A. on I agree, OH is better later. I would not go before 1am. After 2 though, and you'll have a crazy good time!
