Like Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon I'm too old for this sh*t. Being that my college and clubbing heydays are in the rearview fading into the distance, when I head out to a club now I definitely feel a bit out of place. The scene, music, early twenties crowd, and binge drinking sloppiness have all lost the appeal and luster they once had. But while it's true I'm transforming into an old man in my late twenties, senility is slowly setting in, and I have trouble keeping up with the times and these young whippersnappers, every couple months it's still damn fun to get out on the dance floor. I came to Sugar with a group of friends, 7 ladies to be exact (yes it's a hard life I know), to celebrate a birthday. Table & bottle service was procured, resulting in no wait and no cover at the door. This was a huge plus for me because although I'm sure the lovely ladies would have been granted access quickly and cheaply, as you know my penis prevents me from anything less than a 15 minute wait and $20 covers at most clubs in LA. Once inside we were escorted to the V.I.P section (ballin'!...not) which was essentially a small roped off area slightly elevated from the main dance floor. We had done a significant amount of pre-partying prior to our arrival, so the majority of my time was spent dancing amongst the group, catching some fresh air outside, and sneaking in some drunken ass grabs on the birthday girl. Yeah I said it; I'm a dirty old man. The music was typical club themed hip-hop, and while I don't purchase or listen to the majority of those songs at home, it does make for a good soundtrack to freak or grind to so no qualms there. All in all it was a good night. Our group had a great time, nobody got sloppy drunk or threw up, no fist or cat fights, and everyone got home safe. Sugar isn't the greatest or most impressive club that I've been to or even one of the top spots in LA, but it does a satisfactory job or serving its purpose and I wouldn't hesitate to come back the next time I have the urge and am able to work up the energy.

I love Cielo. Everytime I go to NYC, I always go to Cielo to see Louie Vega plays. I like the atmosphere, the place, the crowds (they all know how to dance house music really well). hehehe.... I always had a good time there, they're just friendly, got style goin on and just luv n luv it. The later it is, the music become so much groove, more beat and you just forgetting the time. Variety of people, european, whites, blacks, japanese, jamaican, asian.....everybody. Place is minimalistic, but still casual, no dress code, no VIP stuff. Actually good Dj's play at Cielo on diff night, I just haven't got the chance to check them out, like Tedd Patterson, Nicolas Mattar, Francois K, etc...... House music all nite long !!!!

I love love love cafe du nord. Probably one of my favorite places to see bands in the city. Great place to see smaller up and coming bands, or friends bands. I know it may sound weird but I really love this place because of the bathrooms. They are up a set of carpeted steps, they are pink, they are very clean and cute. I know I know, this is a music venue right, isn't there supposed to be graffiti on the walls, puke in the sink and cigarettes in the toilet? Nope not at all which is one of the reasons I love seeing shows here. Also it as a great speakeasy vibe, cool interior, nice staff, and drinks are not too pricey. So there you have it.
