My first exp here was of the presidents of the USA. It was a crazy moshpit bananza that has had me wanting to come back to this place whenever possible. Such a small and personal venue for the type of talent it brings in. Drinks are a little pricey though.

This restaurant had seemed overpriced to me. It has a pretty clear selling point, and that is to present a wise guy atmosphere (even offering a signature dish called Godfather) with a nostalgic "old school" Italian menu (not the same as authentic Italian). It does this pretty effectively. Some of the staff members look friendly but dangerous, the mood is shadily comfortable or comfortably shady depending on how you look at it. If you've seen Goodfellas well that's what it feels like. Unfortunately, if this is what wise guy joint's food generally turns out, it looked a little tastier in the movies. To begin with I am not a fan of the "Old School" style dishes (big sauce, pasta on the over cooked side, signature Americanized Italian dishes that have been around for a long time) so perhaps that's a bit biased. But even strictly speaking within that style, the sauce is too thin and runny, tomatoes not ripened enough so the red sauce is a bit sour, and the appetizers just okay. The rolls and the soups are all right. It's not bad food, but I can't find much that makes this stuff any better than differently themed Maggiano's. (also Old School style) If you look at the price it is not cheaper than some of the great Italian restaurants in the city.

So Pod looks really cool...the bathroom doors are awesome! :) However...I'm going to have to say....that I really don't find the Sushi/Sashimi to be all that tasty and fresh. Last time we went we sat at the conveyor belt...I mean why not what's better than a conveyor full of yummy fishy delights...except that they were not that yummy :( The spicy tuna roll I ate was really dry and not very spicy :( The salmon was a little dry too. I don't think they switch plates enough. However we did have some really yummy and pretty expensive hanger steak. The presentation was the best part though! They brought out a hot rock and seared the slivers of hanger on it right in front of us, that was pretty cool. All in all though...It just didn't blow my socks off.
