La Terraza is incredibly cozy, friendly and full of good vibes. It's the type of place that you can actually have some good conversation with people you've never met before. They have a sweet layout with couches and a full bar downstairs. There're tiny tables for groups on the terrace upstairs. There's also a small DJ booth but I've never seen anyone man it. The music here is really chill from Erykah Badu to Radiohead. There's also a projector on the bottom floor where they show oldschool cartoons or music videos. La Terraza also has a hanging (literally) stage that local artists perform on. The management is really open to throwing events from local hip hop to a bunch of folks doing oasis covers. The stage isn't usually occupied though, unless there is an event planned. On regular days, this bar is full of mostly beautiful young neighborhood folks. I think someone called it the Columbian hipster hangout before but it's not intimidating at all. The bartenders always put on an excellent playlist and have been hella accommodating about requests. They've got really good mixed drinks and a happy hour specials. Right by the subway too! Really a lovely place.

If you love the experience of going to a bar where it will take you more than 5 minutes to get your drink, shouldering your way through drunken throngs of Friday night revelers, and enjoy being in a place so loud that your ears ring afterwards, then Fado is the place for you. Smithwick's on tap always brings a smile to my face. Last time I was there they poured the Guinness properly too, i.e. they gave it a minute before topping it off. The decor is kinda . . . hell, I don't know. They have cheesy Irish looking stuff. This place resembles nothing you would find in Ireland. That being said, it is pretty cool as far as the layout goes. The patio upstairs is swanky and it's nice that they have a bar up there too. If I have to go to some bigass bar on Friday it may as well be Fado as at least I'll know that they have some respectable beers on tap. Albeit at highly inflated prices. Isn't it sweet to pay for the privilege of hanging out in a "cool" atmosphere?

Hmmm ... I don't know if it's really fair for me to review since we were only there for 3 minutes. From the impression the website gave us, it was kind of a lounge with a bar menu, but when we arrived for reservations, we were seated upstairs and given a menu with items like chicken piccata for $30? I was so confused by that. Why on earth would I go to a place like this for $30 entrees when I can go to MOST nice restaurants in LA for that? It was a Sunday night of a 3 day weekend so I don't know if Sunday night is regularly old man night but there was an odd crowd indeed. And the cabaret singing that was going on was SO LOUD, the people at the host stand *literally* couldn't hear me and I *literally* couldn't even hear myself YELLING that my name was such-n-such for a such-n-such rez for so-n-so-many people. So we sat down ...... felt super awkward ..... and left immediately. I think we might have run from the front door out of sheer embarrassment and confusion.
